The wintertod changes are huge for uim with the reward pool style rewards no longer clogging up the inv with crates. Cakes will also help with having to get more food wich can make you miss games on an ult and it generaly anoying. This will also make it so that people can get 200m exp before they start pulling rewards and get 30 phoenix pets like they are doing with hunter rumours already.

If they changed todt to remove damage scale as you suggest, it doesn’t actually fix the problem; it just moves it. It would become essentially impossible to die with 50+ HP as everyone would only be taking 1 damage per attack (the amount 10HP accounts take). So this would change from making people feel bad about not doing Todt early, to feeling bad about wanting to do Todt early. Normalizing difficulty to be more like Tempoross (where the fight is basically the same regardless of your level) was the best move.

What players don’t like is that it feels like it was designed to incentivize playing it at specific points in your account based on skill levels unrelated to what you’re actually training there. Players don’t like feeling like they’re playing wrong or wasting their time. Imagine if they released a new raid and one of the bosses was easier if you had a high fletching level, even though fletching isn’t even a part of the raid or a skill that can be trained there. Players would feel obligated to train their fletching before they can effectively participate in the content they actually want to do. The same thing will happen to todt if you make all of his attacks deal 1 damage; you incentivize players who just want to train their firemaking to first go afk crabs until their hp is high enough.

Instead of the new warmth mechanic, they could have just made the bruma potions heal an amount scaling with hp, like 3 hp for 10 hp people, 30 hp for 99 hp people.

The warmth meter makes it so you don't need to bring any supplies in. If you took damage against your health you would have to leave to get more food.

When I did it i used tuna or swordfish before I invested in construction for the pool. I had plenty of fish during the 99 fishing grind and sold asset. Post 99 if your going for the pet or supplies

They could’ve just made cakes restore 35% of your hp in wintertodt. Boom updates done in 1 line of code. If you take % damage you should heal % health

The updates make a lot of sense. Right now especially as an ironman you feel forced todo wintertodt very early on before you even really start progression at all. Just because wintertodt is a necessary grind that gets way harder after you are a mid lvl account. Changing wintertodt so that it favors people who progressed in the game (like all the other content does), instead of favoring players with the least progression totally makes sense. Lets use GotR as an example. You can improve your points & xp by: Having a higher mining lvl, unlock a varrock plate, higher rc lvl for pouches, unlock lunar for npc contect, fm lvl to use the perks of your off hand torch. Imagine you would get the best points/xp for having none of these and for every unlock you instead get penalized. Thats how wintertodt currently is.

the benefit of using cake and healing 100% of your warmth with one full cake is the inventory space. At level 10 you might have to bank every 5+ kc while at higher hp you had to bank after almost every kill and use much more higher value resources.

Agreed. If you’re a high level with high HP, you should have higher healing food. If you’re still using cakes at high HP, that’s a you problem. Good food is so easy to get, especially with temp. Idk. Just a weird update. Winterdaddy just needs to chill

The rng sometimes is just so bad there. Some games I get hit 3 times all game, while others Ihsve been hit as many as 16 times in one game. One of those was a quintuple hit too

Im 99 hp and food has never been an issue for me. Half my games i dont even need any. Just kee0 rapid heal, hp cape, and regen bracelet and tele to poh after every game to hit my pool. I keep 2 brews on me for emergencies and they normally last me at least an hour. Its the interuptions that have kept me away from wt.

Getting interrupted feels worse than anything. This change is slightly more convenient, at higher HP you have to basically drink a wine per hit so if you're getting comboed not only is it interrupting but you have to eat as well. Now its a cake bite per like 3 hits? So some improvement but would have rather seen getting interrupted removed.

I think its taking way longer than anyone expected, everyone had a number of quick fixes in mind. It is also during a rush of pre/post summit content. It doesnt help for whatever reason they are seemingly sitting on a lot of shit. Am i just out of touch or would /pull 5x reward/ and using the needle pre 85 rc only changing the essence amount values to current level and other qol updates like this take the 2 hours of actual work people get done between start time and lunch.

Disagree with the take on “oh just use cheap food”. At 20 hp and an inventory of cakes I can stay in wintertodt for 10-20 games in a row, world hopping to skip the waiting time in between games. At 70 hp and an inv of wines I can stay maybe 4-5 games max.
