I have a 2016 f-Type R with the all-wheel drive system. The thing to understand about this car is that it isn’t trying to compete with Porsches, Ferraris, Lambos, Teslas, or muscle cars at the things they do best. What this car does best is fun, serious fun. It delivers that in a way that you can’t get in those other cars. The best part is, you don’t have to drive it like your hair is on fire to achieve that. I love pulling out from a stoplight with the exhaust on loud mode and imagining the guy in the Mercedes SL550 or BMW M6 next to me going WTF was that? It’s a shame that the newer models have toned down the exhaust. But hey, that probably increases the value of my vintage.

I have a 2016 AWD R too. You can drive 25 mph and make it sound like it’s going 80 mph.

The exhaust is the first thing I change on any car I get. First thing I do when I get home is remove the mufflers. Drive for a day or so, then remove the resonators, then cats, and add straights or resonators or mufflers until I get the sound I like. This one kills the fun lol.

@@PerformanceOnWheels no, because when it gets too loud or has drone somewhere in the Rev range, I start changing it to sound better. Like right there in my comment when I said "add resonators or mufflers".

Cool Video ! I have the 2016 F Type R and for the life of me cannot get the same sounds out of it. It's way quiet ! I love the sound of the F Type on the ramp up to top speed. BTW what Rev range and speeds did you have to reach to get the "ROAR". When I try this, I hit +160km/hr pretty fast (and then back off equally fast). To really appreciate these cars, you need a long clear isolated road. Besides the F Type, I love the scream of a V12 Ferrari.

Id say the RAW roar of the 5.0 is 4,500 and up under full throttle. We have a friend that has a AWD 2016 we made a few videos with his car you should check them out! We do go over exhaust sound. And yes a V12 Ferrari sounds otherworldly

Sounds like you may be suffering from the software update that tamed the cars pretty egregiously. Go to the dealer and find out if you got the update. Otherwise, have the valves checked out in the exhaust, they can stick.

@@backroadblast6603 I thought of that (software). In South Africa, we havn't had the software updated from my understanding. I do hear the valves above 3500 rpm, but rarely able to get the car up to those ranges in the traffic.

I have mine for one week, and I almost planted it against a tree today. Maybe should have bought an AWD. I thought I could handle its power because I have had cars with more horsepower. But this thing is a BEAST.

I have run several 1/2 mile drag races, never proved whether starting in 1st or 2nd gear, manually shifting, or automatic, obviously in S, gave best times. I have always turned traction control off for maximum power delivery, but have left dsc on to prevent too much sideways. Going to run some 1/4 mile races at Bradenton Raceway soon, so any advice would be appreciated.

@@PerformanceOnWheels My local dealer in Orlando finally agreed and it took Jag a month to send the part as they custom make them based on your VIN. The replacement was so much better than the original. The dealer I bought the car from in Tampa however would have done this without question. It really does seem that it depends on the dealership. Can't hurt to ask. You don't get what you don't ask for. You can even show them this comment that others had it covered. :)

It would be good if a single channel understood that Torque is all that matters. HP is Torque rated at different RPMs, who cares? Its not like painting a line on the tach changes the car in any way, just changes how fast you are supposed to wear it out.

I mean, ok, I guess you could say that but it's a hell of a lot more annoying to try to explain to people that a car has X torque at Y RPM when it's a lot easier for them to understand that an F-Type R has 3x Corollas or 2x V6 Camry's/Accord's worth of horsepower.
