Amazing. If the turbo/super-charger is long term dependable / durable, Jaguar should have a home run as long as gas solo engines remain a thing.

The Jaguars are fun to drive and always have good engines -no exceptions. The problem is they are always trying to catch up with what people want more these days: modern technology in user interface. I have driven the F-pace over 30 times over few years and always a joy -it is NOT a Venza nor a mazda CX-5. Plus you can get this in over 500 hourses.

the 3.0L supercharged V6 in the F-pace when it first came out was such a great engine and also had a really good exhaust note.

Good review. As for a design change, please don't. This is for the high-end crossover what the 911 Porsche is to the sports car. Iconic. Case in point: BMW should have kept the E39 design for the 5 series. Sometimes when the designer, Ian Callum, gets it right the best thing to do is leave the bloody thing alone. The interior on this is a good example. Looks like some just slapped an iPad on the dash. I am glad I have the 2019 V6 version.

Why look at a Range Rover Sport or Defender instead? They aren't comparable? The Velar is RR's version of the F-Pace. It sounds like you just want the "latest thing" in order for it to be "lust worthy," for you. Ok, fair enough, but that doesn't mean the F-Pace isn't still a great mid-size crossover. Just bought a CPO F-Pace with only 12k miles and love it! Plus, less expensive that the comparable Velar ... since it seems so many ladies will pay a premium for the RR nameplate, when they won't actually drive it off road, so the F-Pace would actually be a more logical choice.

My guess the reason Jaguar is struggling is this.... both Jaguar and Landrover are very unreliable nameplates. They are now combined which does neither of them any good in that category. But Landrovers sell because they not only have a following, but they actually perform and are tremendous off road, meaning they've carved out a space in the market and regardless of how much they breakdown, people still want them. Plus the high end ones look good and the rich don't really care if they have to shell out 2 to 5 grand a year in extra expenses for breakdowns. On the other hand Jaguar doesn't really do anything amazing or special. Plus they are just as unreliable. So when you don't have a real following and you don't do anything special and you breakdown often, you are not very desirable. Sorry Jag. Truth hurts.

I have owned several JLR products over the recent years and No reliability issues. Was that luck? Or is the reliability issue from the past and is now rumours? I was a high mileage driver. Cars were bought new . Are you talking about older cars?
@markcoopers19302 жыл бұрын
@@mikewallace1723 we'd have to ask for a definition of "high milage", and why you had to have more than one over recent years. Any car not maintained will not last long and I suspect that many luxury drivers who experience catastrophic failures after a few years do not maintain their car. But some drivers claim great reliability on cars they drove for only 2-3 years before moving on. That's not a long enough period to make a claim, especially since the average person owns a vehicle for 8-12 years. Or worse, they take it to the shop regularly just as a habit, regardless of if they see an issue. The mechanics fix the issues they see, customer doesn't read/care about the bill and claim it's issue free.
@gabevillarreal962 жыл бұрын
@@mikewallace1723 Speaking on both brands in general and as a whole. High mileage cars generally are driven highway miles mostly which constitutes 10% of city driving as far as wear and tear on a car and its driveline componentry. Meaning if a car is driven 100,000 miles highway, that is the equivalent of the same car being driven 10,000 miles in the city. The the fact that you had no issues was more than likely indicative of what I just stated. Jaguar's of old old just like mercedes of old were very well made cars. Nothing now from Germany regardless of nameplate is reliable at all. Sane goes for Landrovers and Jaguars. That's my opinion based on the data that's out there and the opinion of my brother....a mechanic for 52 years. He has seen every single nameplate over the years come through his shop and he only reports what he has observed over half a century of work in the auto repair industry. Toyota Lexus are number 1 for reliability dependability and durability. Honda has had their issues but he also reports them to be in the top 2 most reliable nameplates. Jaguar and Landrovers have consistently within the last 25 years plus been at the bottom of his list in those specific categories. Always have issues and constantly breaking down. You might have been a lucky one, and if so, congratulations. Consider yourself exactly that. Lucky!

The Range Rover Velar is the direct equivalent to the F-Pace. Biggest issue we have in the UK is JLR’s customer services and back up. Despite decades of claiming that they have improved both reliability and build quality, the attitude of JLR to faults and backing up their products still absolutely stinks. I’ve bought and run numerous of both Land and Range Rovers and a Jaguar over many decades and have come to the conclusion that there is more to life than the worry and disappointment of running their products. I’ve just ordered an Ineos Grenadier rather than a Defender 110 due to the Birmingham/Midlands attitudes and over the years they have missed out on about 15 vehicles that could all have been JLR products if they had honoured the vehicle warranties and sorted some well known issues with their products outside warranty. They demand ‘loyalty’ from their customers but provide zero loyalty to their customers. Avoid!

A turbo and a supercharger? Even the Germans said that's just too complicated. Far as I know the only manufacturers to do that were Maserati in the 80s, and Volvo more recently.
@philipwilliams34272 жыл бұрын
@ Kevin Barry during the early 90's Nissan did a Super March that was twin charged with a supercharger and turbo. Aftermarket HKS did a turbo for the supercharged Mr2, it made it twin charged. There's a company in Livermore that makes a turbo kit that works injunction with the supercharger in the Mini Cooper S. Volvo was the first automotive company to mass produce them.

You have become a large enough organization that I think it's time for you to invest in some remote microphones. The camera based mics are okay when it's just one or two people in a car but when you're outside and the mike isn't directly at you, or you turn your head then I don't hear what you're saying. And that's no good because you usually have interesting things to say that I want to hear.
