Adam, nice video. One comment you made about spark plugs that were hard to remove I have always used anti seize on the threads to prevent that issue. Aluminum heads are the most prone to thread damage. Permatex makes a good one and does not damage catalyst converters. The spark plugs come out real easy the next time. Thanks for making videos of your repairs/service
@LivingWithAClassic

I'll have to try that one! I always put anti seize on my V12s and older engines that don't have catalytic converters. Didn't want to hurt this "modern" car. Thanks for watching!

You Vikings and your longbolts! Anyway, I've just got myself a lovely 2000 Jaguar S-Type with a 3-litre V6, and I'll be looking at your channel often. I'll also be creating a channel chronicling my adventures with the car, and hopefully it'll help me pay for its upkeep. Unfortunately, as it's under a warranty, there's a limit to how much DIY I can do with it.

I have the V8 version which will have a bit of oil dripping down into the spark plug channel because of a leaking oil cover and sometimes moisture. Save your money, take off the coil plugs and measure the ohms. Should be around 3 to 7 ohms which means they are fine. Clean out all of the oil, moisture inside and outside of the coil plug. Squeeze some clear silicone gel inside the coil cavity. Done, I've gone 40,000 without misfires.

You mentioned to check and ensure no oil was on the coils or spark plugs. What do you do if there was oil present? Would this be a valve cover gasket or spark plug tube seal and what would you have to do to fix it? Thanks and great video I'm about to be changing the coils and plugs in my 2000 3.0 s type.

Ok, so you disconnected the battery. Now after replacing the coil packs and plugs the car starts. That's great! The only problem is the power doors don't lock, the left headlight only works on high beam, the right turn signal won't stop blinking, the radio only plays polka, the right rear tire lost pressure and everyplace you drive a huge bird craps on the driver's door handle. Every Jag should have a "Master Reset" button right on the remote control!

I have an 2002 S type which has a faulty Knock sensor (LH), so I have to remove the intake manifold too... I already ordered the Spark Plugs, coils and the Knock sensor, but I'm thinking of changing the Seals and vaccum pipes. I have 140k on it, last inspection was at 120k by an Jag Workshop (the pre owner was there). Do you think they changed the seals anyways and they should be fine if I'm using them again? I guess they changed the spark plugs at least at around 100k like it should be done 😅 Sadly the seals are not as easy to get as the other parts, that's why I'm thinking of using the old ones again 😅

Thanks for the video. It's cold outside and I will have to wait until winter is over, but I will try to do this on a 2005. Don't have a heated garage. If there is oil in one of the spark plug housing, then what do you do¿ because you mentioned it was a bad thing. I have a coolant to engine leak and will be attempting a sealant once I'm able to flush the radiator and thermostat. Too cold to do that myself now in February. Think I had a number 3 misfit thats flooding. Haven't looked myself yet but that's what I was told. I don't even know the numbers to each spark plug yet
@LivingWithAClassic
@LivingWithAClassic 4 жыл бұрын
My workshop is not heated so I know what you mean about the cold. If you find oil there, your cam cover gaskets are leaking and you will need to change them too

I wish I knew more about the Diesels but the only thing I know is that they are Ford/Peugeut engine that many different companies used. They are suppose to be very realiable.
