NO ONE buys a diesel the sound, or the acceleration, people buy diesels for the fuel mileage.

I would rather buy the 30d engine instead of the 30i engine at BMW, because of the Sound... It sounds more powerful.

Well, I would buy an old Mercedes diesel for the noise. I think the old diesels sounded fantastic. But definitely not a modern Jaguar.

Lol why are you people watching a video of a 180hp diesel if you're going to complain it's not fast? OBVIOUSLY IT'S NOT GOING TO BE FAST LOL

Init 😂 but for what it is it’s respectable

Basicly the test method is completely wrong.. The test is done in S-position of the transmission and then just letting it run automaticly to max RPM.. While doing so the engine revs mostly between 3.5k and 4.5k. Acceleration takes torque... And between 3.5 and4.5k the XE only delivers about 350Nm-275Nm instead of the 430Nm it can deliver between 1750rpm and 2750rpm. The test result would have been much better if the driver would have used the standard shift-paddles and shift at 3k or 3250rpm (to have a bit more hp). Driving a car fast.. means more then just pushing the pedal to the metal ;-)))
@Digi208 жыл бұрын
+Wim Corten you are wrong. engine power is the product of the torque multiplied by the revs. so, 2000rpm with 400nm equals less power on the driveshaft then 4000rpm with 275nm. plus, you loose torque on the wheels in the next higher gear. so, even on a diesel, you always have better acceleration when using the whole rev range up to the maximum rated power. only the last few hunded rpm right before the rev limiter should be avoided. if you have one, you can try it yourself (f.e, going 40-60mph in third, then in fourth gear and time the acceleration. third will be faster). however, the difference in acceleration in different RPMs is indeed smaller than on a naturally aspirated petrol engine, where its basically linear with the engine revs.
@davorinskvaridlo35678 жыл бұрын
No, fastest acceleration is achieved by shifting at revs when you get the same power on the wheels in next gear. So you get the maximum area below the power curve on wheels. This means it can be slightly different for each gear. This also means if you have the same power at 3500 and 4500 revs from the diesel engine, you have definitely more power on the wheels at 3500. Basically you need to watch the power curve on the wheels from a dyno run.

I read 1490kg with the 2.0 diesel. 180hp with that much weight seems normal. Yes it is slow for a sport sedan, but this is the commuter version; go check out the XE S with the 3.0 S/C V6 if you want speed.

+Trades46 my BMW 320d F30 2012 with 1495kg en 184hp/380nm vs 180hp/430nm XE does it stock in 31sec 0-200 km/h.. Jag is "very" slow!
@Trades468 жыл бұрын
+Mustafa Oztas I still don't know about 'sport sedan' with a diesel engine regardless. With a SUV perhaps, but not a compact sedan. My pick would always be a gas petrol engine; you buy a Camry for economy but a Jag for the performance.

@diegowerbrouck30148 жыл бұрын
Those retakes are of absolutely 0 importance given it's an automatic. In a manual these are interesting stats, but not in an auto as it would always shift down if you smashed the throttle... And even if you're on the paddles you'd never remain in fifth gear at 70km/h if you want strong acceleration.

makes exact same engine noise as MG6 diesel yet the 6 gets slated
@Trades468 жыл бұрын
+hamster639 The MG6 does take way to much hate because of its Chinese connection. However, comparison of the MG6 diesel is unfair since the Jaguar Ingenium engine is pretty cutting edge vs. the MG6's older design.
@efeberktas8 жыл бұрын
Jaguar's 2.0 diesel 180 hp Ingenium engine doesn't seem to be as successful as Bmw's 2.0 184 hp diesel engine. Bmw's engine is faster and more economical. 320d has a faster 0-100 and 0-200 km/h time. Also Ingenium engine has a artless sound little bit. It needs some time for improving.

Its slow i had one for two years looked after well fed v power. Yes its good midrange well its ok midrange as it does have 20lb more torque than a 320d or a 40tdi a4. On takeoff ( i know these cars are not for traffic light drag racing) its so so loud. I sold it and now have the audi teeny bit more bhp and far more refined but noticably nippier. I have an astra k petrol1.4 turbo with 150bhp as a second car and when i got in that from driving the jag it felt just as quick if not faster from lights and nipping about town at slow speeds. Now it feels slightly slower than the a4 does. I know the jag had 8 speeds vs the audis 7 and i think was set up to pull away in 2nd but even on the open road it had no real puff or shove if i used the paddles. Sport mode meant more revs and awful noise no actual responsiveness. Handles well though.
