Your videos have been really helpful. I took the plunge and bought a XF 3.0 Diesel. 2009. About 80,000 kms. Very pleased with it, it's in excellent condition so they have obviously been well built and people take pride in looking after them. The window regulator was broken but the dealer fitted a new one, they did a service too. The colour is liquid silver, and the interior is grey. Initially I thought the grey a little dull, but I like it now because it merges well with the silver dash board, and means (yet another) colour isn't introduced to the cabin. I love the power, the looks, it's built like a tank! The only thing I don't like about it is the suspension. I feel every bump and ripple in the road. This wasn't what I was expecting, as the reviews alluded to a "magic carpet" ride. I didn't pick up on this on the test drives, because it's so smooth and quiet in every other area, it kind of disguises it. I let the tyres down on the rears, they were set to 38 psi. I've read the 245/45 r18's can be set to around 34 psi, but every web site seems to have their own ideas about how they are supposed to be inflated. I like the "older" styling of the original model, with those big headlights and prominent grille. Don't like the facelift model. the smaller headlights look like they are off another car or something, and look out of proportion. Too much like an Audi too ! I like the recent version, as the lights look part of the design of the whole car.The economy is great, I wanted a diesel as it's cheaper here.

Hey there, you don't mention where you're from. I'd be interested to know. Congrats on your purchase! My car has 245/45/18 as well and the recommended pressure is 31 psi or 2.1 bar for speeds under 160 km/h. 34 psi still sounds too high. I can't believe it was 38 psi before that - wow, no wonder you felt every bump ;-) Take a look in the door jam of the passenger door - it should have a plate with the tyre pressures on it there. I'd like to wish you many happy motoring miles in your XF - you will love every minute of being in that car and just to look back at it when you leave it in a parking lot (park far from SUV's - they open their doors against your XF!)
@nztv8589

Thanks Hilton. I'm from New Zealand. We got bitten by the Jag bug when my brother and I bought an X type for our father's 80th birthday.I'm very pleased with the XF. I may reduce the tyre pressures even more to around 31-33. I still think the ride is a bit on the hard side, however. I always look back at the car, it looks stunning. Every drive is an adventure. Everyone who I show it to, loves it ! It costs around $50 NZD to fill up the Jag, if it was petrol it would be about $130, but you have to pay road user charges seperately per km for diesel .I prefer it this way because it fools you into thinking the fuel is cheap! I haven't figured out how to leave the car cabin ventilation system on re-circulate (so It doesn't suck in diesel fumes) without activating the climate control.The button seems to be locked out when the climate control isn't on. And it seems to re-enage itself so you have to keep engaging it. Annoying. The XF is my first "luxury" car I've bought, I tried a BMW to see what the fuss was about ( it blew a huge plume of white smoke behind me, the engine was stuffed and it only had 60,000 kms on the clock) The Audi A4 was so stiff and heavy. And I hated the handbrake/transmission/arm rest ergonomics. There aren't many Jags on the road here, people go for BMW's and Audis but I think that will slowly change with the XE and SUV's Jag are making. Nigel

I had concerns about reliability and cost, but am so glad I bought it. If I'd bought a car I had no emotional connection with and had to spend money on it, I'd be annoyed. @@alexanderweaver1876 Thanks Alex. 96k is nothing for an XF. Especially the old shape as Ford designed it with Ian Callum and did a pretty good job. Karm Sandhu Wow, that one has very low mileage. Mine is a 2009 and I am impressed with its reliability. When the XF was designed, Ford owned Jaguar and its underpinnings came from the Lincolns and Crown Victoria's. I know that the diff for example comes from a Crown Vic. Cops used to drive them so they were reliable cars. The suspension is new and the interior. I would jump on that 2009 immediately if I were you. It will give you miles and miles of happy driving. Just make sure it has full service history and that you service it each year or when servicing is due and you will be OK ;-)

Thanks for the video. I have Jag XF Supercharge 09 (110,000 miles) The Jag dealers in US would not flush the Sealed for life transmission, had to strive to find a dealer willing to do it The Jag dealer refused to flush the Rear Differentiate stating it can be only topped up and not Drained !!! - Catalytic Converter gone bad - Coolant Leak, Near the super charger -Super Charger Seals etc - Coolant reservoir and float sensor replaced - The O2 sensor is iffy as the engine check engine light will come on after a long drive - The tire pressure monitoring system lights up like a Xmas tree when the air is quite right and then goes away - The rear boot would not open - 2 twice the CATS System - Cheeky name for Air suspension fault -Air suspension Module needed to be changed - Jag communicates with me with overhead lights by switching it on and off in Morse code :) Total expenditure since 2011 ownership not inclusive of Oil changes, tires and brakes - 5,500$ All 4 brakes with new rotor cost - 1,200$ (outside workshop) Tires - 1,400$ for all 4 (my tires are staggered) Oil - 60$ ( changed every 5K even though synthetic) - The Jag likes to have a Night Cap :) I think the coolant leak, catalytic converter change due to over heat etc is because of the fault of the previous owner and thus wouldn't blame the JAG yet. Its a relationship and I am smitten by the Jag...... I still Love it !

Just bought a ‘15 Sapphire Metallic XF AWD with 26,600 miles on the odometer from an authorized Jag dealer. As soon as I was about to drive off the lot, I noticed that the automatic door locks weren’t working - not a good omen for future reliability! Although I have owned a ‘14 F-Type V8S for almost two years and, other than a few minor things and some erroneous ‘check engine lights,’ it’s been pretty trouble free. But the dealership immediately gave me a ‘18 E-Pace as a loaner, so it could’ve been worse. I should have it back next week so we’ll see - the adventure begins! PS - @ 7:08. JEEZ DUDE! Are you nuts? You accept a free loaner (even if you don’t need it) so that you can drive the dealer’s new car for a few days and spare your own car(s) the added mileage. Sheesh.

@carfanfan
@carfanfan 5 жыл бұрын
hey Anthony, sorry for only answering now - I've been moving house to a new city and it has been quite grueling. Here's a link to some bulbs I think will be perfect for both main and dipped beams - always buy LED's with fans as these pull heat away from the bulb and your precious wiring - heat syncs get too hot and eventually make the conduit of your wiring brittle. That's why all manufacturers fitting LED's to their cars have fans installed in them as well. These will be very good and 5000 lumins per bulb will be enough to light up the road better than halogens - also, 30w per bulb is less than the 50w fitted as standard as they use less power from your battery. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NOVSIGHT-10000LM-H4-H7-H11-9005-9006-Car-LED-Headlight-Bulbs-Lamp-White-6500K/362577759070?hash=item546b518b5e:m:mkSYG9y58wqxaRLfr7Ews6Q

Adolf Hitler I disagree. My XF is a 2009 and after 8 years, its proven to be the most reliable car I've ever had. Your XJ is just 3 years old, things WILL go wrong when its older and the miles get higher. Its a matter of how many things go wrong as opposed to other marques. My Audi for instance was at the dealer every month for coolant leaks, oil leaks, suspension issues, vacuum leaks, brake issues, a/c issues and the list goes on. Its service history looked like a Jackie Collins novel. The XF on the other hand has very little to report considering the mileage and age. She's been good to me over the past few years.

Great review! I now have an Audi A4 2.0 TFSI that’s been no other than trouble, in and out from the car dealer so many times. Believe it or not but due to leaking oil and coolant it’s now on its third new engine. It’s only been two and a half year, crazy! It now works fine so I want to sell it and replace it with this sort of car. I’m thinking about the XF 2.2 2012 model. Does anyone have any advice? I live in Norway and the price is about 29 900 USD. Darkdestroyer Wow, our bases are 2.2 diesels here. I'd stay away from the 4.2 V8, but the 5.0 V8 is a brilliant engine and also very solid. They too suffer from water failure so check it that has been done. The s/c version will be your best purchase. I wish I'd bought one. Just make sure the oil changes are done regularly otherwise the engine could get ruined very quickly. They run hot like GM V8's. If you can a V6 supercharged then even better. Uses less fuel but gives excellent power. Every XF will probably give window regulator issues at some point and airvent trouble but not so serious. I got spare ones from a scrapyard and fixed my own.

Hey Feras - I don't recommend Audi at all. My Audi drained my bank account in the space of a year. The only reason I still have it is because I sunk so much money into it to get it 100% that its no longer financially viable to sell it. That car leaked oil, coolant, vacuum and transmission oil as well as exhaust gases. It cost a small fortune to fix each and every problem and when I thought I was done, the a/c evaporator blew - had that fixed, then the heater core packed up and the dash had to come out again! Frankly, they were nice cars when new, but when old, they are shitboxes. I would stay away from Audi.

Mine was stuck when I bought it (also 2009 model), I pressed very gently in various spots until I managed to get it open. Press gently, but firmly about an inch from the left of the flap in the middle and it should respond. If the flap itself isn't opening, possible a fuse has blown. Check your owners manual for the fuse location (probably above the battery on the right side compartment in your trunk) and see if the fuse has blown. If not, you can pull the carpet away above the fuse layout and you should get to the manual release.
