You got balls dude. Done this many times just not this way.

I just used 1 threaded rod. Went right down between the spring. Took the ball joint loose. Loosened the threaded rod. Down it went. This is the way jaguar does it. I just kind of made the tool. 4 bolts, 2ft of all thread rod. 4 over sized flat washers. I actually made my flats washers with 1/4 inch plate. Worked really well for me. You will end up bending the all thread rod. But who cares. You're going to throw it away when done.

Doing it this way is certainly tickling the tail of the dragon. If this goes wrong you won't be injured but likely killed. I've removed these springs many times over the years and would always recommend the correct churchill/spx tool. Buy or hire... your life is worth it.

1:27 Funny how an English car has Imperial Bolt Sizing..... That's because Imperial is an English merasurement.

So I see you have a 53ish f100. Is the Jag front end going in it

Could you tell me where you got your air bags and what kind or size? I've had the jag front end in my 37 truck for over 25 years and thinking the bags may have a better ride? Thanks, Glen

Glen Reeves Any 2500lb bag will work. I chose to go with Dominator 2500. I think I got them from Amazon.

Glen Reeves. I'll try to get to my shop tomorrow. I have bags in my Jaguar front end in my 1973 Ford F100. Mine are the same as the dominator 2500's as far as load bearing goes. But they have a built in bump stop and are about an inch narrower than the 2500 is. I purchased the 2500 but I thought they were just to wide for the spring pocket on the Jaguar. A little rub & you'll be out of air in a heart beat.

Next time use antisieze on the rods so you don't gull up the threads.

Grade 8 rods are much safer..
@ltsgarage77805 жыл бұрын
Safer? You're not going to stretch an all thread rod enough to break it. Plus the cost of grade 8 is crazy just to throw it away when finished.
