I'm looking to buy a Jaguar XK preferably a convertible, in the UK these cars are affordable they start at only about £6,500. I'm looking to buy a convertible in red, blue or green colour soon! Im so excited! I've never had a fancy car ever so this will be extremely special

2007 XK in White with 20 inch wheels. Love the normally aspirated 4.2 Old school Antenna and shifter vs Rotary Pop up. 40k miles. Yup a classic

I have a 2007 XK convertible, 1 of 97 Winter Gold, 100 % Stock, caretaker of it for 4 1/2 years now. 53000 miles on it. So far, a brake light replacement at $3.00. Love this car, totally, a smile on my face every time I drive it. Have had four other sportscars, and by far this Jag is the finest. I do car shows with it, several awards. Member of 3 British Car clubs and The Jaguar Club of America. Owners reviews, they all love them, zero problems. Just great cars that turn heads everywhere you go! James Balluff

I had an 07 XK-R, by far one of my most favorite cars I've ever owned. Ride quality was amazing, & it had power & speed. Surprisingly it was proven to be very reliable as well. The only thing I changed on the car was a dry rotted overflow bottle. Great car, hands down

Great video. I agree that these are future classics. I bought a 5.0 XKR back in July, and it is a brutal machine when provoked, but also pretty well-mannered and comfy when cruising around at regular speeds. I didn't want the typical modern Mustang/Camaro/Charger/Corvette so I landed on one of these instead. It is definitely a classy ride.

I own the XKR coupe in that color. I also own a 2005 XJ8L and a 1995 XJ12 and I have owned a `67 series 1 E-type, a 1988 XJ6 and a 1995 XJS 6.0. All of my Jaguars have been wonderful drivers and they have been quite reliable. Like you, I find most modern cars disappointing and that includes the styling of the newer Jaguar "saloons." I doubt that I will part with the XKR and as with you I constantly look for a lower mileage replacement, but for the XJ8 which has been a fantastic daily driver. Thanks for doing the video review and sharing your experience and opinions.

"Cars have just become embarrassing piles of disappointment": a wonderful pithy summary. Thanks for the video, nicely done.

I recently inherited an '07 with 5K miles. Over a year it now has 8K, satisfying to drive and look at the design. Don't see many others on the road which is nice too.

The "Future Classic" for the Jaguar XK150 is Now!

20+ years ago my father decided that he missed the wind in his, still surprisingly full, 65 year old hair. (In the 70s and 80s he'd had countless Mercedes SLs). His mostly recounted (Jaguar) story goes like this --- With a spring in his stride and nostalgia in his nostrils, off he went to Leeds (UK) to cast an eye over an AM DB7 Volante. His idea was to buy a newish second hand car to keep in a garage for sunny days. But no - He didn't buy one... Apparently the Aston Martin "Experience Manager" reminded him of a WW2 black market Spiv... So, he black balled JCT600 and off he went to Jaguar in Sheffield where he knew the company Chairman. Predictably, a couple of months later his shiny new, fully equipped XK8 convertible in BR Green arrived. In his defence, for spending £70,000 on a car destined for a gruelling sub 300 mile p/a on the country lanes of North Derbyshire, he pointed out that it wasn't the R version because he wasn't looking to stand out from the crowd. I remember agreeing and pointing out that NATO had been specifying British Racing Green, walnut and white leather seats for all combat vehicles since the 60s, so they didn't stand out to the Russians. It gets better --- In the UK we have an MOT Test on vehicles over 3 years. This certifies they have past a lot of tests and are road worthy. Car "snobs" feel it's beneath them to have some filthy mechanic decide whether their car may be used on our roads, so they replace their cars just before the MOT (a bit Downton Abbey). My father is certainly not one of these pompous pseudo elites, however since 1998, every XK he had was about two and a half years old when replaced at Hatfields, Sheffield. The new arrival always in BR Green but on occasion, I believe he's tried cream seats... In 2013 it was announced (to no real fanfare) that XK production would cease and the F-Type would replace it the following year. My normally quiet unassuming church mouse of a dad became incandescent with fury at this news. His language on this treachery was foul, often using unrepeatable (and unpronounceable) 8 and 11 letter words to describe Jaguar's sell out to the Philistines (which included Americans and the French (strangely)). Cars in 12th Centaury BC Canaan - the old guy still had it... Therefore, it will come as no surprise to you (dear reader), that my octogenarian pater is now the owner of one of the very very last XK convertibles to leave the Castle Bromwich plant in Birmingham, England. For the last 8 years it has sat in his garage in Derbyshire. British Racing Green, Walnut and Cream (or maybe White). He's also choked back his divine right of class superiority and had it annually MOT tested - That can't have been easy. I believe this final XK has just over 1000 miles on the clock... I also have an XK --- my story is the antithesis of his - and much more entertaining. If you want it - ask... . .

They are visually stunning cars but just make sure you keep that battery at 12.5 volts or the gremlins will come out in force.

After moving to Florida from Upstate New York in 2021 we traded our 2018 Volvo S90 with the Polestar upgrade on a 2007 XK convertible. We love it and so far it's been relatively problem free. I'm currently dealing with a minor leak somewhere in the cooling system that I thought had been resolved and a glove box latch that doesn't latch. My wife uses it as her daily driver and "lets" me drive it on the weekends. 😄

X 100 was not a "Ford-designed" car. Callum's original design for the Jag XJS successor became the DB7. Callum has co-design credit on the X100. Ford just bankrolled and reserved final say on the X100. The XKR of 02 (mine is and 03) was 400 hp. You should mention that. People with limited knowledge (not you) often dismiss the XKs as being 'just a Ford'. No, they are not. The AJ V8 engine was being developed by Jag before Ford bought them (and Aston Martin). As mentioned above, Ford injected much needed cash and improved management, production etc. They were smart enough to write cheques and allow Jag to get on working their magic.

@@channelsurfer3710 apart from our 2008 xk, we also have a 1999 x100 with the 4.0, do you have any experience with the zf5hp24 issues? mine has started developing some issues, otherwise the car has been rock solid reliable on a daily basis (with some preventative maintenance)

Bought an '07 XK coupe more than two years ago and like it more than I did when I got it. It's an amazing car, which for my tastes and preferences, has no rivals. Recently got an exceptional deal on an XK8 convertible to add to the cat collection. Enjoyed your video, and laughed in agreement with your description of "embarrassing piles of disappointment." Was disappointed to see Jaguar follow suit and start building SUVs like everyone else... including Alfa now.

How many miles are on this car? Do you daily drive it? Has there been any outstanding repairs you've had to do? Sorry for bombarding with questions but I'm seriously considering a 07 xk with 50-70k miles to daily drive! Thanks

our daily has 108k now, there’s really not much fatal that goes wrong with these cars, just do your transmission fluid and take care of the thermostat and coolant hoses. I am talking about the 4.2 however, 5.0 costs on things that go wrong tend to be a lot more expensive, complicated, anecdotally hear of a lot more catastrophic engine failures way too early with them, typically twice as expensive as a 4.2 NA to replace. go for it, only thing i would be worried about is issues from lack of use, I would prioritize maintenance history and condition over lower mileage

I bought a 2007 4.2 supercharged. Absolutely love it. Yes it's expensive to run and not economy friendly but hey ho! Every time I close the door and fire up that v8 lump I start smiling!

I don't want to offend anyone, but for me, compared to the KX8, it's too average, so bland when it comes to appearance. But everyone likes something different.
