Jaguar XK8 - A-Pillar Re-trim

Following on from last week's video about replacing my headliner/headlining in my Jaguar XK8 I've now moved onto the a-pillars. This didn't go 100% smoothly but I'm happy with the result and probably wouldn't take much time or expense to redo them. Hopefully this video is useful to some people out there and thanks very much for watching!

For left hand drive vehicles the right hand sensor is used hence the cable and vice verser for right hand drive

Yeah that’s what I guessed but seems expensive to include redundant wiring, maybe that’s still cheaper than having more than one version of the loom 🤷🏻‍♂️

I was shouting at the screen for you to stop spraying adhesive. You had put plenty on and you kept spraying more and I could not stop you. But the end result looks fine. Brave attempt I applaud your skills.

Mark doing my A pillars today using a cream leatherette with a grain in it Did you have to disconnect the battery when taking off the passenger cover airbag sensor Rgds Clive

Does anyone know what to do if your aluminium trim on the driver and passenger windows has started to go rusty? I can't seem to find new parts and I have no idea how to tidy them up or stop them going rusty again.

They can be easily removed, tidied up and resprayed. Professionals use etch primer, Dorchester Grey 342/LDP and lacquer topcoat. Check out this discussiion www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/how-repaint-door-molding-trim-faq-55561/

How does the new headliner stay up. Is it glued?

Hey Eric - The new headliner is a "board" with new foam backed liner all in one. The "board" you can see comes out and you do the reverse to put it back in - It is held up by the various points eg, back read side trims (remove coat hooks for access and at the front the visors, A pillars and door rubber seals. (All gleaned from info from various sources and jaguarforum(s) as I am going to do my headliner soon) - There is another video where the owner takes out the headliner, peels off the old foam, cleans, applies glue and new material and does it that way. I'll not opt for al that work and skills requirement! PS: See previous video that shows you how to do the headliner!
