When you think of all the great dual-threat QB's that have played in the NFL, Brunell is one of just a few to lead the QB position in both passing/rushing yards in the same season (1996). Truly an underrated QB with a cannon of an arm.

Edgewater Channel he low key had a big role with the Saints, played week 17, he was the FG Holder, game winning kick to clinch the nfc 1st seed, game winner to go to the super bowl and the Saints kicker was the first to have 3+ 40+ yard kicks in the super bowl. I’m sure Brunell is proud of that ring.

Brunell was the man. Samari Rolle was his kryptonite but Brunell led this team and carried them on his shoulders. I remember he led the team in rushing several games. He turned Jimmy Smith and McCardell into stars. That fade to glory was a thing of beauty. Brunell could spin it and put it on the money. If he played today he would have 4500 yards and 40 TDs a season.

We used to play tackle football during lunch at Fesler Jr high in Santa Maria. I was his original Jimmy Smith, he would pick me first because I was fast and could catch the ball. We won most of the time, he was really fast and had a great arm.

3rd down and 5 yards to go, against the best team in football that year which was the Broncos, Mark Brunell did something legendary...he threw the absolute perfect pass to Jimmy Smith to win the game in only his first full year as the starting QB. He also led the league in passing yards and led all QBs in rushing yards. He also won the Pro Bowl MVP twice, and took the Jags to the playoffs 4 straight years. What a stud and a Legend!

Bengals fan here, so I have no idea why this is in my recommended, but Brunell I feel is underrated when people look back. Guys like he and Steve McNair get forgotten about, but they were brilliant in the late 90's and early 00's. If he traded places with Steve Young, no one would've known the difference.

Had Mark Brunell not suffered a devastating knee injury in college at UW, his running would have been even better. The man was an absolute beast running the football in 1990 for the Huskies, had very good speed and he ran mean too. That knee injury is what led to the Huskies starting Billy Joe Hobert in 1991, some games Mark would play half the game, but his running was never the same after that knee injury.
