I was under the impression that it was Jah Revelation that Jah Shaka was in the dance with. It would have been good to include what led up to Shaka saying what he did. I have a recording of that dance, and it was pure mic man NOISE that brought that reaction on. Shaka was right to say what he did. Give thanks, and Peace & Love....
@edwardgeorge80253 жыл бұрын
to confuse things further, this dance is posted elsewhere on youtube as shaka vs quaker city. it's longer but the audio quality is not as clear.
@colinchristopher4322 жыл бұрын
@@edwardgeorge8025 it was definitely sir Zema and not Quaker. I recorded this myself and did the entire dance. The dance started off good with and agreed 3/3 session. What initiated it is one Shaka’s last third tune extended for almost an hour. So Sir zema came in playing 5 tunes which went for almost an hour also. So Shaka reciprocated by playing 5 back to back, and on the 5 tune zema started talking over Shaka’s 5th tune, then that’s then the controversy started. So even though Shaka did play 3 tunes, his 3 was just over an hour long easy.

Without context i couldnt say who is right or wrong. I dont think its correct to say a baldhead sound cant talk. Like bunny lee say reggae music was not controlled or created by dreadlocks man. Look at sound like king tubby run by a baldhead man.Regardless to judge a man bybhis hair is incorrect.jah no partial. Truth be known shaka never went yard for dub till 89 and was overated. Many Shaka followers loyal but not that deep musically imo.

@@ElNumeroUno777 umm not sue if you heard and understood but Shaka was telling zema to not stop him from trying to talk cause you (zema) is a Rasta sound. If you (zema) was a bald head sound the he (Shaka) would’ve understood their attitude in the dance. Also Shaka followers been stop going Shaka from when Shaka started playing at rocket and all those yuppie kings cross students came and just took over. It’s majority white dub heads that go Shaka now and minuscule Shakaites attend. I’ve attended Craig’s dances from 75 and stopped in 92 when noticed change in crowd.

@@colinchristopher432 thanks for clearing that up. I didnt catch what the man said proper and misunderstood..still i dont know why someone would expect certain attitude based on hair style. Times have changed. Regardless of colour its a different kinda people going to "roots" dances and the music change to some kinda industrial computer rave "roots" music thro newer sounds.no disrespect to shakka...I get why people love him, his miltant style and him never stop or follow fashion but personally i rate sounds who were playing a more varied selection and going to ja. for unreleased music,running fresh dubplate mixed yard studios instead of rinsing out homemade mixes of moulding, very well, give us the power etc from tape and uk tunes. Also he wasnt the first to play many tunes that became famous shaka anthems such as kunte kinte or very well buss by fatman etc but shaka will always rule according to shakaites. 75 a bit before my time going dances but was the best time for music imo with all them bunny lee king tubbys tunes etc.i wonder what kinda dubs shaka was playing then or was it pure 45? Respect for upload.

@@ElNumeroUno777 Shaka was not the first to do anything musically. He legendary status is that he was simply consistent. I would put nuff sounds above Craig. From Frontline, to Stereograph, and king Original. When they in prime they all had edge over Shaka musically speaking. I’d put fatman and coxsone on even par with Shaka . But now days , they have all stop playing and Shaka still plays to this new multiethnic crowd who don’t know anything but Shaka alone. This multiethnic crowd who claps when Shaka play as if they at an opera or a rock concert, have no grasp of the environment of authentic sound systems which was 95% black patrons then. But so it go. I stopped going Shaka since 92 as I felt it was no longer spiritual friendly to me. Respeks
