If you're curious about what podzol is IRL, it's a nutrient poor and acidic type of soil that's found in boreal woods, they're bad for agriculture and are characterised by a grey topsoil. In the case of podzol, Iron (Fe), aluminum (Al) and organic matter in the upper soil gets leached into the lower levels. (Im not an expert so may be slightly wrong)
