The film started slow but gained momentum during Shivanna's entry. Dark comedy worked well, led by strong performances from Ramyakarshnan, Ruthkvith, and Rajinikanth. Nelson's direction improved notably compared to his last movie. The interval block was stunning, followed by a strong second half with Rajinikanth's stylish presence and Aniruth's impressive background music. Mohanlal's entry elevated the film, though some unnecessary gunshots could have been avoided. The climax, featuring Shivanna, Mohanlal, and Thalaiver, was goosebump-inducing with an unexpected twist. Considering all this, I'd rate the movie 3.8 out of 5. After consecutive flops like "Darbar" and "Annaatthe," "Jailer" is poised to be a blockbuster.

Good to see comeback of Thalaivar and Nelson. Agree,Second half syndrome is a age old problem plaguing many big movies for several years- Sardaar,Maatraan,3,Sarkar,Petta, Valimai,Naane Varuven,Recently released Maaveeran. Writing in second half in most of the big movies has been average by directors. Vikram was the last good banger 2nd half for a big star movie.

First half is extremely good and well paced. Second half would have been good if not for that flashback portion and those Sunil portion. Infact Sunil portion made it look like a spoof movie. The dark comedy portion didn't work there. Too much violence. Should have got A certificate. Except that decent movie.

I kind of disagree. The first half of the movie was kind of slow, it only started to get interesting when Muthuvel Pandian started killing Varman's henchmen and goes to Narasimha for help to stop him. The part where he spends time with his family was rather boring and cliché, I wanted to skip to the action.

Prashanth Bro, Good review. I like your comment about why we have to show much violence in tamil cinema. I am 90's kid. Violence in 90's and 2Ks were different and limited. I think TN or India government should take some action to enforce rules in certifying a movie for U/A. Jailer is not certainly a U/A movie. It is a A movie given the amount of violence shown in film. Imagine what will be the mindset of kids watching scenes like sulphuric acid used to kill humans, hammer hitting the head, and aruva cutting the head. It is totally unacceptable for this movie to be watched by kids. As a movie reviewer, please advise parents not to show such movies to kids. Also directors like Nelson and Lokesh kanagaraj must have social awareness of how much violence they can show in films and being conscious of what is U/A and what is a A only movie.

PERFECTLY reviewed with both Positives & Negatives without revealing the story. Thalaivar rocks from his scene-1 till last scene showing all possible emotions. The violence part was perfectly highlighted in this review. An outright gangster action movie like Vikram had issues from censor board due to Head chop & were asked to remove/blur those scenes, while Thalaivar slices the head, thrusts knife into neck in this like slicing some watermelon, yet this movie got a U/A rating . Lol.. No complaints on the Rajini Swag that was needed for the story - I loved it personally. But Quite BAD JOB by the BIASED CENSOR BOARD - am very surprised how it did not an A rating in censorship? A movie should be marketed properly for the right audience section & & not fooled with wrong censorship certificates, esp. when Rajini himself says to make movies for family audience. Sad to see parents being ok with any kind of content for kids now days - so many kids even less than 10years are being taken to theatre. Allowing kids inside with so many gory scenes like Head-chops, Head-hammerring, Head-shots by Snipers, Knife-Thrusts in Neck etc are not at all recommended for kids below 10 years. That shall definitely alter their personality making them accept those things as normal in life.
