He's been playing in Grease since last Dec. On Broadway, they had an 8 story pic of him on the side of a building and he revived the show financially. The fans were great to him as they have been all across the country. He isn't "suddenly" in Grease.

Taylor was great! It is a joy to see the love he has for his craft. BTW, I don't get why people say he looks old. Gray hair, yes he has it but you can't look at his face and say it looks old by any stretch of the imagination. It used to be that bald was considered old too but nowadays that's in fashion -- you have to look at the person not their hair color or lack of hair. Just sayin'.

Simon always complimented Taylor's voice, it was the dancing and antics that he didn't like. Taylor just revealed in an article his strategy for creating a character that would leave an impression for the voters. Guess what..IT WORKED! Look at the crowd reaction here. 4 great singers left at that point and he found a way to stand out above the pack. What you saw of Taylor Hicks on idol is about 1/10th of what he can actually do musically. He paid his dues & played them all. WELL DESERVED WIN

Taylor Hicks was 29 at the time of his Las Vegas audition and he's got the Anderson Cooper heir going on. Bottom line he's a country boy who sings soul but in a modern way. All-in-all he was a very good contender for this season and Simon was biased at times.

Technically, his record label did not "drop" him, what they told him was that he needs to go out and make the new album on his own and then when it's finished they will take a listen and if they like it and think it is marketable, they will reinstate his contract. If they don't like it, he'll be on his own and release it indie style. That's the facts.
