I was an English major. Words, versus life, death, love, time, and the big universals is an unfair matchup. If I had words that would " fix" your pain, I'd have used them on myself, a long time ago, polished them a bit, cleaned the ugliness of my sobbing off, and given you the best words I could have, because as a human, I should do things like that. But my words aren't magic enough for that. Not by a hundred miles. So, all I can do is pray for you, and maybe remind you of the beautiful gift you had in her, like you needed me to do that. I'd like to thank Kelly for being brave enough to make this song. I didn't have a father in my life and did not pick the best father for my daughter which "piece by piece" was in part much about my daughter's life and her father's life. I've listened to this song dozens of times for the deeper meaning and just the artistry she brings to the song. The live version on American Idol is my favorite. She is one of the best!

Harry Gardner hit me hardest. I too have a grandma diagnosed with alzheimers and dementia. Because of the fact that she actually raised me, she was more than a grandmother. To see her now unable to recognize me is the most painful thing I've ever experienced. Harry's performance made me cry because i know the authenticity of it. Had i been one of the judges, i would've given him my golden buzzer.

my grandma had dementia too,..she had it almost a decade before she passed away...one day she suddenly stopped eating and sleep almost all day, and few weeks after she died in her sleep...i missed her...there's always this feeling of regret and guilt for not being able to do enough for her when she needed us most...the regret of not cherishing every moment with her... the guilt of feeling angry when she messed up (we took her to our home to look after her)...but also there are these happy memories when I comb her hair after i bathed her and she will smile at me...the memories of making her laugh...i missed her...i look different now to elder people...i always see her in them...

I have a friend who worked in aged care. At one point she worked in an Alzheimer's unit. Her grandmother and her mother both had Alzheimer's so she figured she would likely get it as well so she was programming her brain so she could get out of the unit if she was put in one. she had many things she said she wanted to do. Thank you for telling the story of Josh Daniel's friend Tom. My son is going through a lot right now. APRIL, 2,2022 His Best-friend Conner was MURDERED on the way to our house. A group of his friends were celebrating one of their birthdays at the park around the corner at the middle school park. Conner and two others were walking to my house to grab my son and more food. When 3 TEENAGERS ON BIKES came up to them throwing gang signs. (not only were NONE of them gang members but they were all different races). Conner tried to explain that NONE of them were in gang and they have the wrong group. One of the teens punched Conner in the face and when my son's other friends jumped in to stop it They TEENS ATTACKING PULLED OUT A GUN AND SHOT IN POINT BLANK IN THE CHEST. KILLED HIM INSTANTLY. THE 3 THAT KILLED HIM RAN AWAY ON THEIR BIKES AND HAVE NOT BE CAUGHT. so when i hear songs like this it hits me so different now. Conner was a huge part of our family and he is missed everyday and HOPEFULLY HIS KILLERS WILL BE CAUGHT SOON.

Indeed Josh Daniels has the best richer voice of all of them. There was great passion in his voice that could bring down tears from Simon's eyes. It doesn't actually happen no matter what. I wish Josh has an album I could listen to. When I listen to his voice I do cry too.

Not a tear until Harry's song. Amazing the composition some people have in them and love which overwhelmed me to unstoppable tears. I never got much compassion from anyone which is why I love to see people who have it. Kelly definitely finalized that fact where I had to change my shirt it was soaked with tears.

The one that got me the most was the one that was about the young kid who sang about his grandmother who was battling Alzheimer's. I started balling my eyes out way way b4 he even began singing. Both of my grandmother's had it rather rough come the end of their lives. My father's mother was diagnosed with cancer and passed at the age of 69. And my mother's mother had developed dementia at a rather young age, if I'm correct I want to say somewhere in her late 70s to early 80s. She managed to last thru that struggle until she finally gave up at the age of 86-87. Basically just about every single word that he sang I've thought about every day I was going by to see her. I'd do Anything to hear either of their voices again. Thank you for the video.

Well I must admit that I started bawling with Josh's performance, but then the 16 yr old got to me just as I was trying to pull myself together, well then Kelly sang and that was it!!! My grandmother passed away with Alzheimer’s 8 years ago. Her children, aside from my father basically threw her into a nursing home and forgot her. When I’d come to visit, she’d grab my arm tightly and ask, “when can I go home?”, and I’d just sit in the parking lot and cry my eyes out. She’d given power of attorney to the wrong person, and there was absolutely nothing I could do. Needless to say, the song about Alzheimer’s made me cry

Just lost my nana last year, so Harry Gardner’s song got me first. Kelly Clarkson left me bawling though, as I’ve been around those struggles for so long. And how she showed just how much she cares for her babies left my heart shattered in like the best way possible because family is just so important. The fact that she’s so focused on giving her kids the life and love that she always wanted brings out so many emotions I seriously thought I lost the ability to express. I’ll just say I’ve found my new favorite song haha

Harry Gardner's song hit me the hardest. I lost my mother from Alzheimer's in 2019. So I related to this song very much and understood what he was talking about. Mom still knew me and 2 other of her daughters, we were the oldest. The youngest daughter she only knew half the time, as well as her daughter, which really hurt my sister as she was the one taking care of Mom until we had to put her in a home with round the clock care. Mom's youngest, a son, she remembered only a quarter of the time, his children not at all. I hurts when they can't remember you! It hurts a lot! It hurts even worse because you know there is not a darn thing you can do to help!!! Several of these songs had me crying, this was just the worse one!! I think Harry will go far, writing songs and singing!

So with her only remembering things from long ago things that, to her, are happening now, she believed your son you, her young son. So in a way, she did remember you, just not the Real-time you!

Although it's been 5 years of losing this beautiful person in my life. It has not become much easier. Miss them dearly but some how listening to these beautiful songs & what these other very talented individuals have gone through & going through some how helped this once very lost girl. That one did it, how bitterly sweet. What a tear jerker, what a beautifully loving tribute to his grandmother. I took care of those with this horribly sad disease for many years as their caregiver. I think of many of them daily still with the fondest of memories. One of them a bit more so than others. She still makes me laugh.. and having been blessed with one of the very sweetest of grandmothers who is also in my heart daily, I find this especially touching ❤️ much success and a hug for him 🤗

Each beautifully done piece resonated with me; I cried through them all. I married later in life; 2 months after our engagement, he was diagnosed with cancer. We married July 3, 2012 and he left this world, our unbelievable love story and his 16yr old son, 25 days later. He and my mom were on the same chemo cycle. Never could I have imagined in six years that I would become a widow and an orphan, losing my mom and dad, my cousin who helped raise me, an auntie and a stepmother. So yeah, all the songs, those songs, prick my heart. I have a heart full of love and can no longer give it to them.

I'll say things to her he use to say to see if she knows who always said it... sometimes she doesn't remember some of his sayings cause he had many things he would say... love when my dad calls cause I'll answer it how my papa would answer the phone... my phone rings its my dad, I'll answer phone with " is this the person to whom I'm conversing with?" My dad loves it cause his dad would say that to many folk who called the house... I definitely keep him alive by talking bout him often
