Some of these people are so sad. It is heart wrenching to see how desperate they are and cannot see a way out. At one time in my life, when I was young and knew everything, I would have shown them not an ounce of mercy. My attitude was, get your life on track and do not cause other people any problems because of your poor choices. Now that I am old, my heart has softened enough to know that “ there but for the grace of God go I”. It’s an old saying that says so much. I was and am capable of making the wrong choice. Alcohol and drugs cause more pain in this world than they should.
