Kids, us, we talked to one another on the school bus. No laptops, no phones. Today you would be lucky to even get a glimpse from a kid on a bus. I was 15 in 1985 when this was released.

brian chaput No, but making the charts regularly IS what would be considered worthy of recognition. Sure, every fan thinks his favorite band is worthy of more recognition. That doesn't mean they're going to get it if no one else likes their music. You get recognition for being good at something, and being good at making music is generally judged by how many people are willing to pay to listen to what you've performed. Everyone likes to believe that their work is worthy of special recognition. Doesn't mean it is.

This song makes your soul "dance"? Ironically, in 1999, a rock group called the "Bouncing Souls" also performed this song. I've also heard the Billy Idol version of this song; pretty wild, if you ask me. I've also performed this song on the karaoke stage. It's a fun song to sing.

They often mess up the better, extended remix, as heard here with the intro that detracts rather than enhances it. Should've/could've been better than the original to bother making it but alas, this happened fairly often, with the "better" extended mixes in the wrong remixer's hands.

One of Scotland's contributions to the International music scene. Glasgows own Simple Minds. This song sums up, for me , the 1980's.. Of course it was used in movie & TV show soundtracks. But the first time I heard it on the Superior body rocking sound system @ Rich's nightclub, 2401 San Jacinto, Houston,TX 77002, was an experience that will never leave me. This song would get the crowd MOTIVATED - numerous lip- synchers would turn into "stars" right there on the dance floor. It was fricking awesome...

Lucky you Herc, lucky me too though. I was a travelling semi hippy, Weedgie when I first heard this in Oz. Loved it (the music which SM never wrote of course) but I can’t bare the movie, it’s one of the most irritating, white, schmaltsy, privileged pieces of film ever made.
