Great video man! Quick question: if all goes right I intend to take that MCAT early 2019. I was thinking to start studying this summer. I know you said 3-4 months of study time is optimal but I’ll be super busy in the fall with biochem and other classes that I probably won’t have a chance to study then. Any advice about this?

Here's the problem: if you start studying in the summer and have to take the exam early 2019, there's going to be a lot of information you might forget during the fall semester. If you're taking the MCAT in 2019, then I'm assuming you will be applying for med schools in the 2019 cycle. Because of this, I don't think it's necessary for you to take the MCAT so early. I would advise taking the MCAT during summer of 2019, and I would start studying towards the end of your spring 2019 semester. It's most effective to study for 3-4 months and take the exam directly afterwards.

503 is a bad score. The average matriculant score is 511. Think about that for a second.

Niccolò Machiavelli i agree with you 503 is not something to be happy about lol. you can get into some schools depending on your gpa and shadowing/clinical/volunteers but i wouldve definitely retaken that. But if a person got in with a 503 then good for them!! its not common at all and theyre definitely blessed

Joachin Eddi no that’s not too late, I actually took my MCAT in August and ended up putting my application in around late September. It’s definitely better to apply early but if you’re a strong applicant, applying later shouldn’t be a problem

Jace Serrato if you can get that gpa up and do well on your MCAT, the chances are good. Just stay dedicated. Make sure to look up the schools you want to go to and see the average MCAT and GPA and try to be at or above that to have a high chance at landing an interview

Daniel Smith I think you should try your best to study efficiently for the two months and around 1.5 months in just gauge your situation and see if you feel comfortable with taking the practice tests. If you are, go for the actual exam. If not, try to spend a little more time studying and practicing

Thank you for all your videos , they are very helpful! I graduated University May 2016 and intended to take a gap year and work as a scribe but life happened and it turned into 2 gap years and I’ve been working with the same physician as a scribe. I’m taking the MCAT May or June 2019 and apply to start 2020. Ideally I should start studying in December. However, I didn’t take biochem during my undergrad. Should I study just for Bio chem in the mean time to learn the content then review it later when I do my heavy mcat study? I’m not sure how to go about that. I feel that I should start studying earlier than 4 months (start now) because I graduated so long ago I forgot a lot of my Gen chem I took sophomore year and haven’t taken Biochem but I also don’t want to start too early and forget the material. I’m sorry I went on a rant but you are so personable and relatable and I’m hoping you can help guide me. Thank you :)

Noor S Jabbar I definitely think you should open up the biochemistry book and teach yourself the material for a period before studying for the MCAT. After that, just steady everything together and go through biochem again. In your situation I think studying 4 months is a good time period, just to go back and relearn the material. Hey Jai, I took the MCAT once, and I got a 499. I was suffocating on the MCAT, because I was wearing an N95 mask. I had swollen fingers for three days because of how stressful the test was. I was constantly playing with my mask gasping for air. I am probably using that as an excuse, so if I had one question that I want to ask about doing better this time. Do you think it is possible for a person who has to write every detail to learn, and cannot learn by just using anki to be able to do good in medical school? Is it even possible to study in detail in medical school with all the information they give you? I heard of the summariation method, one page per power point`. Have you learned anything that could help me learn better?

I took my MCAT the summer after my junior year. You're definitely not too late. In fact, I wouldn't recommend taking the MCAT any earlier than junior year because you won't have enough classes under your belt to fully understand your material.

Rainy Lovegood im not exactly sure what you mean by HMS, first thing that came to mind was Harvard Medical School, in which case the answer is yes . You need to take the MCAT to get into medical school unless you do a special 7 year program starting in undergrad that some colleges offer
