Touhou 14 東方輝針城 ～ Double Dealing Character - Perfect Stage 6 Lunatic (NMNB)

Okay time to get serious. :V
The stage portion is pretty straight forward. The only real hard part is the obvious spam that you normally should always bomb. You really want to kill at least two of the enemies as soon as possible in order to not get overwhelmed.
The fast yellow section can be done easily by lobbing a few knives to the side and using your shot for the other side.
The first attack of the midboss is the hardest, you want to look where the bullets crisscross before they transform. Going there is usually safe, you still have to weave out of the wall though. The second attack is a heavily toned-down Kanaka's opener. You can actually stand still for most of it if you find the lanes.
- The final boss opens up by slapping you with a wave of dense bullets. It can be pretty scary, but luckily Sakuya!A can kill it before it fires a second time.
- The first spellcard is a bit RNG-based as the attack gets a lot harder if the openings are all over the place instead of in a neat line, as well as away from the boss.
- Second nonspell is a giant amount of spam. You can actually misdirect the snowballs to the sides of the screen to make it a lot easier.
- GIANT BULLETS. The round ones are static while you have to make sure to misdirect the heart bullets as they can and will wall you.
- Sakuya!A trivializes this next nonspell.
- For the next spell you want to prepare a bit of a route. When the openings between the blue knives are wide you always want to go right.
- The next laser nonspell is a lot harder than it looks. The lasers are very fast, come from all directions and can also come at you from really odd angles. This one probably killed me the most in my attempts.
- ENLARGE. This card completely sucks with Marisa and Sakuya as their hitbox is larger than the sprite. The trick is to never cross the kunai. It's completely static so memo a route.
- Sakuya!A kind of breaks this next card. (　；∀；)
- FINAL SPELL. The yellow bullets are aimed in your general direction so you want to stream and misdirect. When it's about time for the blue walls to appear, start in the center and move left and under it. Do the same thing for the next wall on the right and repeat. As long as you have no problem weaving through the kunai walls this spell should not give you any trouble.
Very easy final spell again. Kind of weird considering.

Not sure if this is what was meant in the description, but in the second nonspell, you can destroy her bowl/hat/thing, dodge the large orbs, and then move up to the same height as her all the way to the left or the right, and the white bullets will just fly off the screen, essentially nulling the rest of the nonspell :v

Is it just me or does the Stage 6 Normal look the same as Lunatic in this game? The only difference I see between the two aside from the Lunatic having a couple of more bullets is that Seija's second attack doesn't have lanes to stand still for a bit in Normal. Gotta love ZUN's difficulty balancing sometimes.

You can do spellpractice with any shot in DDC regardless of which one saw the card, and apparently doing spellpractice with a shot that didn't see it unlocks the stage in practice mode as well.

Pretty sure he just meant Reimu A Shot but right now he's doing stage practices so he doesn't really have to go through stage 4. If anything if all shot types A fail at stage 4 he can still get access to practice stage 6 just by capturing a spell card in the spell practice in stage 6.

If you're playing with an A shot-type, there's a bug in Stage 4 that crashes the game at that point. There's a patch for it by now, it should be up on the wiki.

Looking at this boss, as well as the story (the incident was caused mostly by Seija, through use of Sakuna's Miracle Mallet), Seija should've flipped stage 5-6 and should've been the final boss. She's even hard enough to be the final (though you'd need to make her final card harder. "Change Air Brave" is kind of anticlimactic.)

Sheesh, man...I wouldn't be able to beat one of these if it was the only game I ever played again and had years to practice. I thought games like "Castlevania III" and "Ninja Gaiden" were ridiculously unfair. It looks like if you don't get the boss to transition modes at just the right time you're guaranteed to eventually be trapped by their attacks and hit. I'm almost assuming the strategy for these games in general is NOT to try hitting them at all but focus entirely on dodging and just wait for them to nonchalantly wander into your stream of fire...

Except SakuyaA in PCB isn't overpowered. Her unfocused shot is really weak, she gains borders at a slower rate, and her focused shot is still outdamaged by every non-homing shot. PCB SakuyaA is great if you're new to Touhou and aren't used to staying under bosses, though. And it's still useful to have 4 bombs per life.
