There are a bunch of reasons. For me personally I found the whole "doubting fatherhood" plotline to be poorly done, and the fact it ends with the young teenage character just giving a speech and convincing the bad guys not to be evil anymore was a really crappy resolution

The movie is just kind of pointless. I mean nothing reall happens besides Harold's death and Artie becoming king (neither of which are too important) And Shrek Forever After starts off with a montage of the babies so Shrek The Third wasn't even needed for announcing the pregnancy

How?! How can you like it? It is insultingly terrible. It has no character development, the villain was a villain in the last movie and it randomly introduces a bunch of other randoms villains. It hardly expands the universe compared to what the second introduced. The last thing we want is some stupid wizard wanting to set the mood. The comedy doesn’t fit at all and the jokes make me cringe and all the side characters have no purpose to the story and are all irritating in their own way. The only characters that the movies needs is Shrek, Arthur and Charming. It completely ruined the Shrek franchise and made it turn into a joke. There would be no Shrek memes if this movie was never made. It made people dislike the fourth movie even though it is as excellent as the first two. I pretend this movie doesn’t exist and just prefer a Shrek “trilogy”. Under the entire pile of garbage this movie shows, the only good scene is when Shrek and Arthur have a serious conversation. The ending is a complete toll. The Shrek franchise was originally intelligent writing for adults and then it turned into a joke. It ruined the fourth movie and destroyed DreamWorks’ reputation. So there. That is why I hate this movie. It’s embarrassing compared to the other three.

Another thing I really like about Shrek 3, is that moment where Charming interrogates Pinocchio and Pinocchio tries to double talk so his nose can’t tell if he’s lying or not. That still makes me laugh to this day

Much of the humor is far more juvenile and gross out (too much reliance on farts, poop, and puke). The king’s death scene also felt like the writers couldn’t figure out whether they wanted it to be humorous or sad and the song choice of “Live and Let Die” was not the right one

After this film The Creator just forgot about it. Because in one of the shorts Shrek and the characters tell stories. Shrek and Fiona state that ogres aren't scared of anything. But in Shrek 3 Shrek is scared of having children and he even states that. I get a lot of people didn't like Shrek 3. But you would think that they would had donkey or puss point that out that Shrek was once scared of having children.

I actually had a theory that Prince Charming poisoned the king. Prince Charming looked pretty suspicious watching the funeral from a distance and he might've wanted revenge because of what they did to his mother/the fairy godmother. Also, he didn't start his plan to rule Far Far Away until after the king died. Edit: alright I think my theory is wrong now because I now saw the newspaper that flew into Charming's face said "King royally sick"

The reason Queen Lilian looks pissed is because it's *her* family's throne - she was, most probably, given that Arthur is her nephew, born as Lilian Pendragon and Harold only became King by marrying *her*. Given that he was a frog, he probably wasn't born to it.

The worst parts was Harold’s death as it felt like the writers couldn’t decide whether to make it funny or sad. And the inappropriate use of “Live and Let Die” at the funeral. Recycling Prince Charming was also quite lame and much of the humor was more juvenile. Hell I remember my theater barely laughed at all. Only parts that got laugh out loud laughs were the “get yourself a pair of jammies” ,”well somebody better be dying”, and the body swap scene.

I love rio 1 and 2, hard to find animations talking about Brazil and this film is amazing especially for Brazilians because they can finally see themselves represented.

I honestly did not like 2 but one was pretty freaking good. Maybe its because by the time it came out i had already moved on satisfied with the first. Perhaps it just has to do it is just not for my demographic so it did not strike the right note for me.

@@thecrazybiologist I like more the one too, I think that's because the 2 is more "childish" in a way, I mean the first one talked about poaching, abandoned child and poverty so even if it was for children I find it interesting but the second, I had a good time watching it but it wasn't as interesting in my mind, also between their outing we grew up so we probably felt even less concerned... I really just right a whole paragraph😂😭

TBH, I really enjoyed this movie I’d say it’s the weaker one of the series but it ain’t bad I’d watch this movie again if someone dared me

I honestly like the third one so much more than the 4th one?? Like the 4th one doesn't really fit in with any of the other movies. Plus I think the 3rd one is a great movie, second only to the first shrek movie. I honestly don't know why people disliked it, maybe the French version I watched was better than the English one

I strongly disagree this one had bad jokes a weird climax and it was just bad story with a bad villian and i feel like this movie didn't even add nothing to the story i feel if the third movie never happen the fourth one would still make since, the fourth one had a great villian good plot it was emotional and the creators remembered that shrek is not just a movie. and they gave it a meaning and the ending was great and it was a better finale to the franchise.
