Homemade wood-burning stove for camping! Secondary combustion heatsink upgrade and review!

A self-made secondary combustion device has been added, and various parts have been improved for ease of use and stability.
Last time I made a stainless steel firewood stove for the winter camping. The main firebox was made by bolt & nut assembly of 2 stainless steel containers and 1 stainless steel tray without welding. A fire window is attached to the front and side surfaces. I hope you enjoyed it.

Шикарно.Сколько идей. Если нравится - делай. Всегда говорю: за работу руками - плюс. От меня пара советов. На ручку вместо болта и трубки приделай скрученную в пружину проволоку. Она меньше нагревается. И видел у тебя в каком-то видео полку, она ставилась на поперечный прут и упиралась в дно печки. Сделай у полки на двух углах ножки на ширине печных ног, а на печных ногах закрепи отрезки трубок, что-бы в них встали ножки полки. Остается дождаться когда сюда будет встроено ардуино))) Авто розжиг, открытие заслонок, тяга, температура)))

Using off-the-shelf stainless steel restaurant trays is a spectacular idea. Using a CNC water-jet cutter, or laser cutter, or even plasma cutter would take a huge amount of labor out of the fabrication.

@@campingtogether 다른 채널은 기성품처럼 용접해서 만드는거라 그냥 보고 지나치는 영상이라면 용접없이 구멍 뚫고 자르고 해서 제작하는거라 캠핑투게더님 영상은 저장하고 자꾸 보면서 연구하게 하는 영상 입니다 공구가 전동 드릴, 핸드그라인더, 리벳, 비트류만 있다면 따라 해볼 수 있기에 제가 사는집이 아파트라는 단점이 있어서 소음 문제로 ㅎㅎ 스텐 밧드의 새로운 쓰임새잘 배워 갑니다 언젠가 저도 제작을 해봐야겠어요

Terrific addition of the shutter valve to start your flue draw while the system warms. The base to protect the ground is terrific. In addition to heating food below the lower unit, you have an added benefit to dry wet firewood or heat rocks or bricks for thermal mass. Secondary air inlet is pure genius; bravo !

25:00 I think that is the coolest looking fire I've ever seen! I had to watch some of this again to see where that middle layer fits in the upper heat exchanger, with the diversion damper. That must throw out some serious amount of heat. I really didn't expect all of those extra holes around the pellet funnel hopper would be effective, but they don't seem to interfere with the flame at all.

After the conversion damper was installed in the heat exchanger, the ignition in the initial stove was well ventilated, making it much more convenient. Thanks to the advice of one of my viewers, it was a very interesting experience. The effect of the holes in the basket on the fillet combustor varies from case to case. Large amounts of pellets in the hopper tend to disperse more through the holes in the basket, instead of reducing the tendency for the flame to concentrate. Thank you for watching. And comments too.

상품화 하는건 2차 연소에 대한 열효율 계산이나 기타 결과를 좀 보고 해야 하겠죠 2차 공기 투입이 나가다 산소를 만나면 분명 더 타기는 하겠지만 단순히 산소를 만나니 그냥 타서 나갈게 공기 투입구쪽으로 불꽃이 모인 결과 일수도 있으니까요

I randomly found this video and it intrigues me. Can you explain what is a secondary combustion chamber?

@@NostalgicLink So instead of the smoke going straight out of the chimney, you redirect it so that it gets reburned - as I think maybe a third of the heat is lost from gases in the smoke that don't get burned. So then the fire needs to be hot enough and the secondary chamber stores up the heat. Also there needs to be enough oxygen - so a secondary air channel is necessary. The goal of the secondary air is to have it preheated so that the fire stays hot to burn off the gases. A masonry stove will have a secondary combustion chamber similarly above the primary chamber. "Masonry heaters typically only have a fire once or twice a day. The basic idea is to have a large mass of masonry absorb heat completely from the fire, then radiate it slowly into the room after the fire dies down. Two basic design principles contribute to the heater's efficiency. One is a secondary combustion chamber."...the length of the shortest single path from the firebox exit to the chimney entrance is at least twice the largest firebox dimension (passed unanimously at 1998 MHA Annual Meeting, June 8, 1998) www.alternativeenergyprimer.com/Masonry-Heaters.html and you can also look up rocket mass heaters. Also TLUD stoves use a secondary chamber. And also a baffle wood stove design creates a secondary burn chamber.

Does that process happen right at the "throat" of the chimney? I don't quite understand how it works, but now I understand the purpose at least.

@@NostalgicLink I had to rewatch the vid to really figure out the design. So there is a middle "lid" in that secondary burn chamber. So that means with the damper closed the smoke is forced to the back of the secondary chamber and then up through the middle lid and then to the front to go out the chimney. With the damper open - that is then the "bypass" so that the smoke can just go straight up the chimney as pulled by the negative pressure of the draft.

앵글그라인더 쓰실 때 절단석 옆면에 대고 그라인딩을 하시면 정작 절단할 때 절단석이 크게 깨지며 크게 다치실 수 있어요.

축하합니다. 고효율난로로 가는 상당부분을 갖춘 난로로 업그레이드 했군요. 2차급기는 예열을 충분히 해주면 더 효과가 좋아지니 다음에는 유입부가 본체의 열기를 충분히 받아들일수 있게 밀착하거나 내장시켜보세요. 2차급기의 온도가 500도가 넘어가면 그 자체로 가스를 태워버리며 찬공기에 비해 연소효율이 급격히 올라갑니다. 기밀이 잘된 난로에서 1차급기를 줄이고 2차연소하면 우두가스화연소가 진행되어 은은한 불빛을 보이며 장시간 꾸준히 타오르다가 1차급기를 늘이면 불이 확~ 커집니다. 2차급기의 분사는 지금처럼 하부 공간에 하는 방법과 긴 구조의 난로에서 1차급기가 안되는 후위에 급기하는방법과 불목에 쏘아 나가는 불완전연소가스를 더 태우는 방법과 측면의 에어커튼에 적용하는 4가지 방법이 주로 사용됩니다. 이중에서 후위 공급과 불목분사는 고효율난로의 핵심기술이고 그외는 선택적입니다. 쩝! 라볶이 한점 같이 먹고 싶군요.^^

댓글을 읽어보니 급기 온도의 중요성에 대해 실감하게 되네요. 이걸 만들 때 화살 안쪽이 연소가 잘 안되는 것 같아 2차급기를 하게 되었습니다. 급기온도를 올리기 위해 파이프를 난로 내부로 관통하려 했으나 난로 내부 연소실 길이가 좁아질 것 같아 (장작 투입시 제약) 아쉬운대로 뒤쪽에 파이프를 설치하게 되었습니다. 연소조건이 잘 맞으면 2차연소 불꽃이 관측이 되나 그렇지 않을때도 있네요. 알면 알 수록 재미있는 난로입니다. 오늘도 감사합니다. ^^

Hi Does the key to secondary combustion lie in the stainless steel tube at the back? If so, can the commercially available wood stoves be modified in that way? I have a winner well wood stove, hoping to modify it for better combustion efficiency.

Hi, Yes. Secondary air flows into the stove through the tube to help burn wood gas. Another option is to penetrate the inside of the stove to make the air flowing in the tube hotter. But in my case, I made it like that one in the video, with the intention of making it as simple as possible. Commercially available stoves have a slightly different structure and size, but the principle is the same. If you search Google with the keyword 'secondary combustion', you will find a lot of data. Now combine them to make your own. I'm sure you will be excited. PS: Secondary combustion may not be observed depending on the combustion environment. Do not be disappointed. Cheers ~ to my friend!
