Hyeryeong's feelings were quite unclear. She did care for Gwi more than she showed. Again her situation wasn't like where she could show her sincerity towards him. She definitely loathed him for being so monstrous. But again,she was the only one who knew other side of his character as well.

I think they held a certain affection for each other but couldn’t really openly admit it or show each other. I love seeing them together and So Eun and Soo Hyuk’s chemistry and their on screen dynamic are so good. They were able to deliver that longing and a twisted version of “courtly love” without having to say the words. Their story is one of the unfinished business love story list that I have for all the Korean dramas that I have watched, second only to Ga Eul and Yi Jeong in Boys over Flowers. 🤣🤣🤣 I love Kim So Eun.

I like what you've written. I think they had affection for each other too, Hye , when she was concerned that the sun had risen but he had not come back to the underground palace as yet and when she got jealous when he was keeping the beautiful court lady in his cave and towards the end when she was willing to run away with him. But she couldnt openly admit it or show him because he was a ' monster' and people would hate her for it, plus she was just his servant, and on top of that he had told her that the only reason he kept her around was because she was useful. Gwi's affection was more apparent but his ego wouldnt let him openly admit it or show it, after all,he was the one who said that affection/love for a human is weakness.

@@newtheboyzdeboisandnewatin9513 That’s true. And the way Gwi just shut down after He accidentally killed Hye Ryung. I think he was ready to make her spend an eternity with him, regardless if they will be at each other’s throats everyday or not. He wanted to make her his companion, if not his lover, as she was the only one who could banter with him and keep him on his toes. He must have been so lonely after existing for thousands of years and outliving everyone he knows. Perhaps in the back of his mind, he has found someone whom he thinks could make his existence bearable,if not better. He hinted on turning her into a vampire a few times. And having her die, albeit accidentally by his hand, I think it finally broke him. Everyone has a threshold. When he was battling with the male lead at the end of the series,he looked like he wasn’t even trying hard to fight. He was a formidable fighter,and a cruel one at that. But when he looked up and saw the sunlight, it looked like he welcomed his death. He just closed his eyes and surrendered, saying that the sunlight “really is beautiful”. I think he was remembering Hye Ryung. She must have been the one to tell him that in one of their more civilised conversations. 😅. Monster though he was, I think he died of a broken heart. Gwi and Hye Ryung’s story had so much potential. It’s a shame that it wasn’t explored as thoroughly as it should have been. So Eun and Soo Hyuk are magical together. I never root for the villain, but this was an exception. 😂

@@babsnadoy I wondered why he didnt make her a vampire sooner, I wondered if he wanted her to love him first, for her to show him affection first, to return how he felt about her. He didnt seem to be the type to force his love on her, i think he wanted her to come to him, so that"s why he was stalling to turn her i guess.

He could have just turned her into a vampire anytime he wanted but I guess in the deepest recesses of his heart, he wanter her to love and accept him for all that he was worth, no matter how much he tried to deny believing in love. I think he was holding on to that. That he wanted her to come to him on her own accord and wholeheartedly, not just because she has no choice. I guess that was why he was angry when she told him to just take her away and they live in a place where no one knows them. Because he knows she’s doing it to save the King. I think Gwi has still the capacity to feel for someone very deeply. I’ve said this in one of my comments on another Gwi-Ryung video, in his own twisted way, he did love her. He just doesn’t know how to express or go about it.
