I gotta say, hearing this theme the first time you step into Haven after having put so many hours into it in Jak 2 really hits you in the feels. And then you find the Stadium ruins :(

can't believe I'm the only one going to say this but this game when I first walked in haven city it was so dark and sad that I admit I cried because it made you feel lost, beaten and made you feel like you lost everything in just one song still gets to me ... how sad.

Yes the jak series was so much darker than sly and ratchet that’s why I like it the most something about cartoon art style but serouis is cool they don’t do that anymore and I forgot what the guards say they say this cool line like we’ve already lost this war from the beginning

There is a weird undertone of hope though. I dunno how to else explain it but the music kinda hints onto a resistance still holding on against inevitable doom. The blue guards always come onto mind, the war never stops. No matter what everyone still alive is keeping together.

Even as a kid I noticed that the soundtrack for Haven city in this game was the same as the second game, just made more depressing, and I remember even then thinking that it was genius because it really made you feel like the city was collapsing and getting worse. You didn't even have to see it all to realize it, you get there and hear the music and you're like shit, this sounds worse than before. Goddamn genius

My first steps from the eco mines into the battleworn haven city. Where once the streets were full of people and glowing lights are now only ruins left and the metalheads, searching for meat.

I'll never stress out too much how good of a soundtrack this is: the reference to the og haven city, the desolation and sadness of a lost war still being fought, the dark star being the end of the world; especially compared to the og haven city where there's a hint of hope (of course being Jak/the kid), this is just sad, pitiless, heartbreaking...
