Jak X Haven City in Jak 3 😱

Jak X has a race track called 'Haven City'. I basically ported it to Jak 3, and went through it with a Zoomer. I have further technical details below... ⬇🔻⬇🔻
I "ported" HVX and HVY from Jak X to Jak 3. Also made modifications to CWI in Jak 3, which has the Zoomer code (and a lot of other stuff), so everything could fit. Poor Jak 3 didn't really like all these things, but in the end I managed to get it working. I thought it would be funny to use the Zoomer here, so I didn't give up.
Both HVX and HVY seem to be made of multiple other levels, but in lower quality. I am not yet sure why these "duplications" exist in Jak X, but eventually I will look into it. Maybe the lower-quality but larger levels are used for split screen? We will learn one day.
EDIT: The lower-quality bigger levels are indeed used for split screen, which makes a lot of sense, considering that the two players can be on opposing ends of the racetrack.
This took a lot of effort. But at least now we know that any level should work mostly (it is not flawless, and actors will never work). I just really need to work on a tool to make this faster. Right now porting just one level takes hours of manual tedious work.

It just occurred to me how huge the streets are now that the city's been fixed up. Not to mention how fast it was rebuilt after the war and how pretty it is compared to its previous state. All it needs is people walking around and lanes for vehicles

I really love this.. In a way its the closest to Jak 4 to me too. I would love to have Jak X racing and combat be apart of the city kinda like batman Arkham knight or Mad max game. It would be challenging to balance I'd imagine but I want to see how far we can take it.

I think maybe decrease the size by 25% ant it would be more suitable to character size, these maps could be great edit material when they complete opengoal and people start going wild with modding.

The size of things is actually normal. This is very visible when near structures that they just straight copy-pasted from the Haven City of previous games.

So in universe I'm guessing Jak X wheeled vehicles are somehow faster and the fastest thing we have ever seen is the precursor hovercraft in Jak 3? It did reach the center of planet afterall in a short time frame

Jak X cars are indeed fast. Much faster than Jak 3 cars, and their handling is also superior. I am not sure how fast the subrails vehicle is. When you are using it, the camera gets a significant change to FoV, to create the illusion of speed. It is hard to test its speed elsewhere, because it moves along a pre-set path. If the path is missing, it will just go straight in one direction.

I love seeing as much Jak as possible. Unfortunately in 16:9 we see less. But depending on my mood, sometimes I record in 16:9. It is not really a big deal I think.

I have more technical details in description. It partly works between Jak 3 and X because the level format wasn't changed too significantly.

They improved things in each game. Jak II levels kind of work in an early build of Jak 3. But other than that I am not aware of any more cross-game (partial) compatibility.

I have always used normal versions of the games, unless specified otherwise. My OpenGOAL videos specify OpenGOAL in the title. So in this case this is just normal/original Jak 3, in emulator.

I recall them saying that the only sure thing right now is up to jak 3 because they weren't sure how similar Jak X would be. Seeing Luminar's stream though, I'm hopeful someone will push into Jak X at some point when 3 nears completion.

In theory yes. I was thinking about it for a while. In OpenGOAL it would be baby easy. But not really in the ps2 version.
