ironically he was setting himself up to be a big star in the 2010s by kind of being a pop-folk singer but killed his own momentum when his 3rd album was basically just trying to be radio music

His guitar work is delicious and you just don't hear actual musical ability such as this anymore by performers. His voice is rich and clear. Jake is a modern troubadour in a world too hyped up to appreciate it. I hope not, because this is what the world needs. A gem of a song.
