Ameer I I just heard this song while he talks about how none of us bought the ticket for the “Ride of a lifetime” on “Spaceship Earth”, and our parents signed us up without asking, on the “How Earth Moves” video. His delivery, along with this song, and the sinking realization that we are nothing to the universe, made me feel a huge pit in my stomache...

Michael chose the perfect music for his content, like notch did for minecraft. Nostalgia inducing years later.
@theunburied385
@theunburied385 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, i'd say your right, but hear me out. How you describe it, is not how nostalgia works (don't get me wrong i feel the same way like you do). Nostalgia emerges out of our good memories (tho i gotta say we change our memories to the better uncontiouasly and unconsciously so if you go back to a great game which you have memories of, it might not be what your memories pictured it to you). The conection between the nostalgia and this song simply means that you like the memory of the vsauce video you saw back then because the music isn't the main attraction, the main memory (but makes it more memoriable), the main attraction was the video and you were so impressed or satisfied or what other emotion that you tresure the memory of that video. Now if the background music comes up you/your brain consciously or uncnsciously thinks about where it knows that music from, pins the video, rememberes that you liked it and then you get nostalgic by the music as an bypruduct of this thinking process. And as always, thanks for reading! P.s. correct me if i'm wrong, i'm no professor but i know a good bit about some stuff. And yes the music is just awsome! Edit(2mins later): i think you might even have meant that, sorry for the long text!

Guys, I've figured out what the cover art is, and why the song is so chilling. It's the detonation of a nuclear bomb. In a two-stage nuclear warhead, there are two main components: the primary, a smaller component that gets compressed by a chemical explosion to initiate fission, and the secondary, a larger "drum" of radioactive fuel with a fissionable "plug" that reacts to the heat and compression of the primary to initiate nuclear fusion, both surrounded by a foam that becomes a plasma at the moment of primary detonation to create the heat and pressure that aid in the fusion within the secondary. On the cover, there is one smaller, circular shape with an overlaid triangle, and a nearby rectangle. The circular shape is the nuclear primary at the moment before complete detonation, as it is compressed by the initiating explosion and undergoing nuclear fission, represented by the triangle over it. Think of it like a flash, an explosion paused right at the apex of luminosity. The rectangle is the larger secondary, waiting still and silent for the flash to reach it so it can fulfill its devastating purpose. That is where the song comes in. The reason the wails sound so much like sirens is because that's exactly what they're meant to be; the nuclear sirens foretelling imminent destruction, and the long pauses are the brief moments of clarity amidst the likely ensuing panic of knowing what comes next, up until the drums begin at around 0:34, which is where I believe the warhead has been armed and what we see on the cover begins to occur. The next wail beginning at 0:50 is longer and more droning, yet intensifying as it continues. At this point, I believe this is when the heat and pressure initiate fusion within the secondary and the bomb truly detonates, the wailing becoming representative of the ball of plasma and radiation as it expands, evaporating everything around it, imagined in slow-motion as a long, wailing screech. The second time this occurs becomes much more interpretative at this point. Perhaps it's representative of the expanding shockwave running down everything in its path, or the rising of the mushroom cloud into the atmosphere, or perhaps the entirety of the first wailing was the primary releasing radiation into the chamber, and the second was the secondary having absorbed the head beginning its own relay of fission to fusion. Either way, hats off to Jake Chudnow for being able to represent such an event not only so amazingly, but as an amazing song as well, or at the very least creating something so charged and awesome some of us on the internet interpreted it as such.

this song perfectly fits an other-worldly apocalyptic scenario, like the 2005 war of the worlds movie (but humanity loses), all hope is not yet lost, but it will be. humanity is doomed and there is nothing we can do to stop it. and as our last mark on this world, we play this song...

Thanks to the SoundtrackEditor Forked mod for KSP, I'm able to use this song as part of the ksp soundtrack and I think it's perfect for one of the objects from the Outer Planets Mod: Slate, a colossal moon nearly as big as Tylo that has clear evidence of having water and an atmosphere recently, but somehow lost all of it in an apocalyptic event This song feels colossal and at the end of the world, which is perfect for Slate

im literally holding back tears during an existential crisis after reading a comment about how this song would play during the suns supernova, and i imagined in my head a montage of every supernova in the universe that could fit into the 3 minute length of this song with angles and whatnot and then i thought, how would we design the equipment for it? for a close up angle the footage would need to be livestreamed to another location and screen recorded as the camera gets obliterated but how would we mount the camera? through what feat of human design and engineering could we achieve a device capable of suspending a camera in empty space at a fixed location and ensure there would be no drift or deviation? which instantly shot another thought through my head about how humans will die out before the absolute threshold of knowledge and capability will have been even close to ever being reached and all of it, every idea and thought humans have ever made in the process will have been for nothing. i.e my existential crisis. what were we put on this planet for? are we as a species working towards anything? any one goal? to achieve any high level of understanding of the universe? we haven’t even grasped more than a small portion of the surface and we will never go farther. not long from now the human race will die out along with every other living being on the planet. i’ll never once get to see the true beauty of the universe with my own eyes in my lifetime. i wont ever get to witness a quesar in the flesh or see a nebula glow with fire. and the worst part is that im alone in this impossible quest

ur life is just a small drop in the ocean of infinite universe, we forget too look up the sky and see the stars, we made things up systems we tell our self lies out of nothing to distract us from this universe, such sad humans begins we are, when doomsday comes it will be unexpected, some will be relieved from the restrictions we made and finally be free. As always thanks for watching.
