B99 did something very few shows have done. They kept the main couple interesting through the entire series. They also made it clear from the start why they both liked and loved each other which very few comedies do successfully.

Exactly and no cheating and wierd "I love you but I will just lead some other girl or guy on while you're in a relationship" stuff like Ross and Rachel or Penny and Leonard. Just love their cute relationship from front to back. I can point out misgivings about all the other sitcoms but this one is just pure perfection ❤❤

The writers went against everything the characters stood for in the last season. Jake wouldn't outright let Doug escape after committing a crime, Holt would never hold falling ill against Terry. As a long time B99 fan, the last season was incredibly disappointing.

So wonderful to watch Jake's _hard earned_ development over 7 seasons. Legitimately wonderful television. The development was gone in season 8 along with everything else as the writers got turbo lazy (and legitimately thought the audience was idiots), but still had some moments.

It's a great showing of Jake respecting his peers and his superior in that moment. His reaction of "oh, great. Now i gotta deck this guy in the nose and potentially lose my badge" is so heartwarming.
