I just love how open Jake Gyllenhaal is, and how he can laugh at his own expense. These stories are just great. To think the road to success is through countless failures, and he failed so many auditions. All though the movies he have done are far from failures, I really like how he can talk about past experiences with such ease with a smile on his face. What a great man.

It didn't happen, because they only casted in the UK. Elijah Wood got cast because he 'casted himself' by sending a tape of him playing Frodo (with English accent) over to the LOTR casting team. I auditioned for a small role in October Sky and tanked it. I was popping with confidence when i arrived, but after sitting in the waiting room for two hours and watching one dejected dude after another come out my nerves were frayed. it didnt help that the line i had to read was super corny. the casting person took me in, we talked a minute, read a bit, then i had to deliver my big line "let it fly, rocket boys, let it fly!" my voice cracked like a teenager, i asked for a glass of water, then tried it again with the same result. the lady was very kind as she escorted me out. thus ended my movie career

You know what my favorite thing is, seeing all of these amazing, talented people, work hard, to portray the role they were asked. The underdogs should never go ignored. Especially if they were being selfless in their roles.
