Jake was in an episode of Homicide with Robin Willams back in 1994. Only a couple of minutes worth but he does a great job crying.

This show had some of the greatest writers, in its time at one point I think it even far exceeded Law & Order... such an underrated show.

For me, the most powerful moment, was when Robert Ellison (Williams) asked if he could hold one of the detectives revolvers. At first he denies. But after pleading and even requesting that the bullets be taken out, the Detective agrees. And when he asks why he wanted to handle the weapon, Robert answers. "I just want to know what it feels like to hold something that can take a life." Very powerful and unforgettable scene. Robins best performance, ever.

You're absolutely right, The Wire is the most amazing show in TV history and it retroactively got me into Homicide.

Best show ever, IMHO. I was sad when it ended, but at least it had some sort of closure.

williams has always been to me, a much better dramatic actor than comic. jake was great. borrowed this from the library a few weeks ago and when they said jake was in it, kept looking for a man finally dawned that he was the boy. great acting from a superbly wriiten/acted show.

I agree; it was ahead of its time. If it had been on FX or HBO it might not have struggled so much for its audience.

I totally remember this episode, it was so sad! I had no idea that was him until seeing it again now & Jake looks so young yet so handsome at the same time. He still looked so young in "City Slickers," it's almost hard to recognize him, but you can totally tell it's him in this clip. Look at those eyes, that's 100% Jake!!!

every episode they would do a crazy camera angle to add to the intensity of the scene.Like repeating and 360 shots. I watched the show just to see what crazy angle they'd use

This was Jake Gyllenhaal's only episode so far in 35 years of his life, and his dad Stephen was the director. Can you believe it? I've been thinking about creating a The Day After Tomorrow series in the near future about Sam (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Laura (Emmy Rossum) helping their son survive in colder climates after they move back from Mexico to Los Angeles 13 years later. Chances he'll want to settle down in a TV series 23 years after this episode. I hope I don't have to recast him for this, or otherwise it wouldn't be the same. If I really had to recast for Sam, I would pick Justin Chatwin.
