Well no he arrested him because he believed the man, correctly so, stole or was party to stealing jewelry. He arrested him early and without proper evidence but was bolstered by the fact it fit the man’s MO to a T. So he jumped the gun but the arrest would’ve been for suspicion of grand larceny.

In fact, it doesn't matter if he's guilty or not on that count, it matter whether or not Jake had probable cause at the time of the arrest. This is actually a crime by the whole department. I love B99, but way too many cop shows are OK with police corruption.

@@admthrawnuruarrest was not illegal he was arrested for suspicion of theft as said theft was done exactly as the man had done previously. They worked to provide evidence to charge him and found said evidence. The arrest was correct and the suspicion was warranted. The problem would be if there was no evidence and no reason to arrest. While you certainly can’t convict for suspicion you can arrest for it.
