I’m of Indian descent and one day in NYC in Chelsea to be exact- there’s was this vegan place called Blossom du Jour- I saw Jake shields and went up to him and said hello- Jake was the nicest guy! Stumbled upon this after seeing someone comment on it a supposed example of how ‘racist the anti racists really are’ but I think they were wrong on this one. This guy assaulted someone after spitting on them which is never the way to handle something. I would like to see the original comments that caused the accusation of racism but seeing how this person behaves I don’t think it’s beyond belief that he would say something inappropriate and seeing as he brought up the fact that he is mixed race in this video like that affects anything, he is not doing anything to change my perception. If your reaction to being accused of saying something racist is not to assess your words and seek to clarify what you said and instead it’s to gang up on the person, spit on them and assault them (while filming and later posting your crimes) then you probably are exactly what you were accused of. I know what side I’d rather be on and it’s not the side of beating people up and spitting on them. The amount of people, especially Americans, writing things like ‘freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from consequence’ when it literally means EXACTLY that is disheartening for the future and to see people who are so angry about having to confront their own ignorance of racism that they side with a violent spitter who is literally doing and saying racist things right in front of their eyes, I think is even more telling that there is a problem with racism and it’s the majority who will sit by and even defend the actions of the people who are racist rather than just listening to the people who are trying to call out what they see that is causing the problem.
