Jake Plummer had intense speed for a big guy, loved his throws on the run too and used to love running this Broncos squad in franchise mode in Madden 04. That team between 03 to 06 should’ve won the Super Bowl. Definitely underrated, too bad he threw a lot of picks but still fun to watch none the less.

As a kid, Jake was my favorite player. He always stuck out as a QB emanating this great energy. Had some soul, and no matter what the box score said, he could inspire his team to win. As an odd dude myself, someone who is a walking contradiction-a guy who loves both computer science and football, popular with girls but also a bookworm, skateboarder who dresses up for Sunday church, into the spiritual and immaterial but also a 9-5 worker-this really appealed to me. For me and people like me, Jake was our NFL role model-that you don’t have to conform, do everything by the book, carry every tradition as it were sacred but still succeed. And for the most part, despite his chaotic, mercurial, unpredictable style, he was well-liked and a gentleman. Always the first to sign autographs, always the first to shake a vet’s hand. Another really appealing trait, for a kid from a family of vets. Good for Jake. Still living his life to the fullest. That said, I’ll never forget that 1998 Cardinals team. They really had something. They fell short against the juggernauts of the era, but they were fun to watch and left everything on that field.

My late brother idolized this guy, I think mostly for his willingness to gun it down the field in almost any situation, and partly because they were kindred spirits. Among his few possessions when he died were three Jake Plummer jerseys, two Broncos and 1 AZ Cardinals.

I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American. So, you can see why my hatred is for the Broncos, Raiders, Chiefs and Chargers, and not for the Rams, Cardinals or Niners. So, in 2002-03, I was watching a Cardinals at Raiders game. I ALWAYS root against the Raiders (because they have injured SO many Seahawks players, including quarterbacks, in games at Oakland). I thought the Cardinals had NO chance, of winning AT the Raiders. They did! The FOX announcer said, "Jake Plummer is one of the more exciting players in the league to watch!"

@@StrangeVoodooTV As a Seahawks fan, in 2005-06, I WANTED to play Pittsburgh in the Super Bowl, because I was afraid that Denver has always been great, and with Jake Plummer, they were a harder matchup than Ben Rethlesbarger and the Steelers. That didn't turn out to be the case, though. Even before the Super Bowl, some thought that Denver (despite them having a better record than Pittsburgh) "would have been an easier opponent." We'll never know, but I've always been a believer in Jake Plummer. In fact, the Seahawks always needed a QB when I was growing up, and when I saw the Washington Huskies play against Plummer and Arizona State, I told friends, "We should draft Jake Plummer! I KNEW that he was going to pan out!"
