Eh, man and his brutal was probably BRUUUUTTAAALLL The mans had quite a..... “Colorful” life, so to speak..... (Who am I kidding? He’s lucky to be alive, fortunate to be sane, and blessed to be without need of a wheel chair or oxygen tank ) Oh and I feel like I should clarify that I am a huge Jake “the Snake” Roberts fan. My statements aren’t meant as criticisms or a passing of judgement. By his own admission, he spent a good portion of his life doing things the hard way. He often admits he was reckless. Not in the ring but in terms of partying and substance abuse

How easy it would have been for Jake to be just another casualty in pro wrestling. The conversation could have been: if only he got help, or if only somebody helped him. We would be documenting him as just another entry on an ever-growing list of human beings whose life had been cut prematurely short; but instead we get to learn from him, and rejoice his second chance at life.

I was listening to this while at work. 10:00 , Jake talked about wrestling schools not teaching students the simple things, then it cut into a Head and Shoulders commercial which started out "Shoulders...." LOL, I had to look up. I thought shoulders (*working on strong shoulders/shoulder locks, etc) was one of the simple things they weren't teaching at schools. OMGosh, too funny! Anyways.

Lemme say one thing. In late 1990 and early 1991, Slaughter was the #1 heel in WWF and they gave him a title run. I get it, it was the perfect time for him to turn heel with the war and stuff and it was great for The American to finally triumph at WM7. But just imagine this, if it was Jake Roberts as a heel instead of Slaughter and Jake won the title in early 1991, and KEPT the title through WM7 and feuded with Randy Savage doing what they ended up doing anyway. I always fantasized that it was Jake rather than Slaughter. Nothing against Slaughter, but man..... Those damn addictions. I'm glad he said he didn't mean to cheat us, but he really did. We would have been treated to SO much more with him. But over that, it's better that he is doing so much better and he is still with us.

I like Jake but I kind of disagree with him on Mick Foley. Him losing his ear was NOT because of some reckless hardcore stunt he did. His head ACCIDENTALLY got tangled in the rope (ropes BTW that WCW never informed the wrestlers were made of actual telephone cables instead of traditional wrestling ropes.).. It was an ACCIDENT and nobody was to blame but WCW itself, not Vader, and certainly not Mick Foley

i just paused the vid to comment to say this, glad somebody said it first. Not only that but the ropes were actually killing him, he couldn't breathe.

Jake the Snake has joined the "Kiss Up to Vince McMahon Club", which is the "smart thing" to do, since decent paying gigs are hard to come by at his age. Jake was "most honest" about his true opinion of Vince in the 'Beyond the Mat' documentary in 1999. In 1992, Jake bailed on the WWE because Vince lied to him about offering him a position that was once held by Pat Patterson,. This broken promise happened on the heels of Patterson being accused of sexual harassment and therefore vacating the head writer position he had at WWE. Vince didn't want Patterson to think he was "being replaced" so he screwed over Jake Roberts, by retracting the agreement he had with Jake. Vince McMahon is a rat bastard, who treats most of his wrestlers like garbage, so this type of treachery doesn't surprise me in the least. Most recently Vince lied to Cody Rhodes, telling him that he could shed the 'Stardust' gimmick. In typical scumbag fashion, Vince changed his mind and decided to keep the Stardust gimmick for Cody, It's sad to see so many former wrestlers that Vince screwed over having to crawl back to him. I can only think of a handful of former WWE talent that will never grovel and beg to work for the WWE again, like Scott Steiner, Shane Douglas, and Raven. The former wrestler I have the "most respect for" who really "stuck it to Vice" is Sabu, who turned down a pay increase of 5 times what he was making at ECW by refusing to join McMahon's WWE.
@Vercingetorix.Rising8 жыл бұрын
man you love putting words in quotes don't you ?
@buddybarlow96048 жыл бұрын
Sabu also said he regrets saying NO to vince
@Scorch10288 жыл бұрын
James Barlow I'm sure at some level Sabu laments turning down $250k a year at WWE to keep making $50k at ECW, but Sabu also said he didn't want to have to compromise his hardcore style and be limited by WWE management's rules. Harry Smith is happy wrestling for New Japan and Johnny Mundo enjoys Lucha Underground (in spite of lesser pay) because these guys don't have to compromise their in-ring styles. Money is a very big deal, but some superstars won't accept "more money for less freedom." It's like Aesop's parable: 'The Dog and the Wolf.'

Jake the Snake is 100% right about the loss of territories being a death to talent. Case and point, only ONE territory wrestler remains on the roster: The Undertaker. And, can you think of a wrestler that can read a crowd and react appropriately, even though he now works maybe once a year, for the last 10 years?? That's how much the territories taught workers

Most modern wrestling schools are shit. If your teacher is a guy who had less than five years in the business, you know that school is NOT a good one. There are very few legit wrestling schools left. Lance Storm's and Curtis Hughes' schools are probably two of the few legit wrestling schools left

NXT builds ROBOTS and there is where WWE sucks they forget about Wrestling about being a Professional Wrestler. The Younger Fans just see people in the ring jumping up and down and how cool it looks. Jake The Snake Roberts is right and I agree with that. Perfect example, John Cena ..does the same thing over and over and over again, Real Professional Wrestling Fans hate that John Cena is 15 times Champion...OF WHAT?? The kids love it cause they only see the Lucky Charms colors Cena wears and that's it.Professional Wrestling has History too and it should matter today.
