Lithuanian Foreign Minister said it best: no one has the right to force Ukraine to negotiate, no one has the right to demand that Ukraine concedes land to Russia. Ukraine did not invade itself. Ukraine is fighting for its right to exist. For 30 years Ukraine negotiated with Russia, who broke every agreement it signed.

While I don't agree about revenge as a motive per say there is a simple question to ask invaders like Herr Putler: "Well, what did you expect to happen?". @@brucedewald While I haven't been to Odessa, I doubt that that the tides there are really "observable" unless you are a really into measuring them on purpose. And again - here is that simple Google search would give you: "While the Black Sea technically has tides, they are considered very weak and barely noticeable due to its enclosed nature, meaning it experiences minimal tidal changes compared to open oceans; essentially, the Black Sea is considered a "non-tidal" basin with only a few centimeters of tidal variation at most.". I myself learned what a real tide is when I came to the USA about 20 years ago. I have been vacationing (15-20 days at a time) on the Black Sea beaches every year for more than 20 years. Believe me - NO tides!
@gottagoworkКүн бұрын
According to ChatGPT, Mediterranean Sea have very low tides due to narrow connection to the open sea. Inland lakes don't have tides even if gravitational pull acts on it, it need additional water. You need an in and outflow of sea each tide for a significant change, this doesn't happen there: "Tides in the Mediterranean are typically low, ranging from about 0.1 meters to 1 meter, although local conditions can cause slight variations. In some parts of the Mediterranean, the tide can be almost imperceptible." This is even more pronounced in the Black Sea. Compare that to Bay of Fundy, Canada, with its 16 meter tides, or Severn Estuary, United Kingdom, with its 15 meter tides.

Europe has a war-driven history since people lived here. Over the Millennia, and especially in the last 400 years, Europe managed to establish rules of war. One central aspect of these rules is, that soldiers only fight soldiers, not civilians. Killing of civilians and their homes by soldiers is an expression of pre-rule barbaric ages. Obviously, Russia decided to fall back into these dark ages of barbarism. 500 years ago, Russia's methods to fight a war would be standard procedure across all European countries. Today, most of Europe has become civilized and abstains from this kind of warfare. What was totally acceptable 500 years ago, is a crime today. In these days, I would be ashamed to be a Russian, to belong to a barbarian country which has given up on civilized behavior.

It goes deeper. You cannot attack anybody without a lance or sword - be it a monk, a priest, a merchant or a peasant -the medieval peace of God stated. You can harm your enemy on a road, but if the enemy enters a house. of somebody else ....of linits

Russia has NO historical claims to ANY Ukrainian land. Russia seeks to steal land, rape and pillage its resources, and kill its civilians.

Sad thing is that when we establish the rules all we do is limit ourselves. Putin does what he wants and we just wag out finger and send bare minimum supplies.

Should these attacks on embassies of NATO members Albania, Macedonia, North Macedonia, and Portugal count towards Article 5? Russia either has to admit that they attacked foreign embassies or that their targeting systems failed on their weapons (meaning they suck)…

@@GlenHayman Ruzzia doesn't consider Ukraine a state, they say it's their land. So if an embassy convention isn't inviolable, why doesn't the world declare ruzzia similarly cancelled? The Vienna convention on consular relations and diplomatic relations mainly say the host country needs to be hands-off. But is it if it's cancelled unilaterally as is the practice of ruzzia? MFN

Two drones hitting as they did is one heck of a ' Look what we can do ! ' .
@Texas240Күн бұрын
Russian bots and confused pro Russian Westerners say the West doesn't have anything equivalent to Russia's hypersonic missiles. With Russia's horrible air defenses, we don't need such. I saw someone say "the drones are slow enough that the building nearly had time to move out of the way, yet they still hit with precision. Plus, if Ukraine had enough Patriot systems, Russian missiles wouldn't get through.

Prison. If Putin falls out of a window, there would be chaos and he could be replaced with a more cunning Russian dictator. If he faces The Hague like Slobadon Milosivoc of Serbia, his reputation will be internationally ruined and there would be stability for future Russian government to pay reparations.
