Great video, I just started working on my release with my coach yesterday and this is perfectly timed and aligns with what he was saying. Cheers!

Thank you Jake. I am one of those - grab the golf all on the shoulder - guys. Bit by bit I practice these nuggets of info you share so generously. What a blessing to see the difference in the results.

Great idea of welding the part together, makes it much easier to tell students and myself frankly. I shoot barebow and anchor on my cheek bone and do not have the flexibility you show but in my best shots my draw hand index finger slides along the contour of my face as I release, moving the "lan" back. My hand ends up back by my ear. If my hand leaves my face the shot is often not as good-- straight back release is the key. Thanks for the idea.

Great Video - and very perceptive point how we incorrectly try to get the hand further away from neck - the mental tool of visualising the “one unit” moving around - hinged from back of shoulder - is great - I’ve gotta do some mirror or screen work - thanks heaps Jake!! - You are the Oracle!!

It might look funny to do it differently, but does it change the resulting shot?

Excellent video... for when I manage to stop my hand popping away from my face a bit first , haha.

There is an app called "delay camera" that repeats what is filming a few seconds later (You can set the time) so it is very useful to do this training

As a newbie to archery, the follow through video was very helpful. Was wondering why you let the bow drop forward after the shot? I've seen other archers do this in some competition videos.

I just started traditional archery with recurve bows. Is 35 lb. bow alright for 3d archery? What is average draw weight for beginners?

bringing bow to anchor after full draw and making sure string and release hands are exactly same everytime has done it for me, think Jake has video for how to bring bow to anchor, im still novice but my 2c

What is the purpose of letting the bow fall forwards after release ?
@danaross75893 ай бұрын
If you grip the bow loosely or not at all, there's less chance of torquing (turning) it during the shot and affecting where the arrow goes. That's not a problem while you're at full draw because the bow is being pulled back into your hand. But that backward pressure disappears once you release, and the bow either wants to jump forward from the motion of the shot or just fall. Jake is using a wrist sling which attaches to the front of the bow so it gracefully falls forward and stays attached to his arm. Otherwise he'd have to catch it before it hit the ground.
@myrthewei-linsteens59903 ай бұрын
He is using a fingersling, but nice explanation on why he drops the bow!

We can blame NASP for the bent wrist error... 🤔

I'd also follow Jake suggestion to hold a tiny tension of the bicep, to keep a firm angle between arm and forearm and achieve the single unit he said kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZnaYnugp7-khpY

Hey Jake can you explain what benefit dropping the bow has since the arrow is long gone? Is it mainly so the bow hand stays relaxed during the release?
@scotsrich3 ай бұрын
The bow drops by itself due to the weight of the stabilisers and the fact you aren't gripping the bow. If you were to shoot a bow without stabilisers with the same grip then the bow wouldn't drop forwards, in fact it may roll backwards.
@christianbrienesseАй бұрын
@@scotsrichas someone who struggles to bow drop due to the size of finger slings available, I fully agree on the bow rolling backwards and tilting up.
