@@kirkjordan8718 I do respect we all make our own choices, but going homeless to pay down student loans seems a bit extreme. Especially when you just went and got 700-800 in car expenses and went all the way to Oklahoma and all those expenses. Doesn't really seem like good financial decision making here and you can always get a roommate situation that can greatly reduce housing expenses. You just acquired more debt when you're worried about student loan debt. Doesn't really make sense. You could have gotten a good used car for a fraction of the cost that would have more than offset any gas expense by a large margin.

Jake, I was so happy to see this video. You look great! I got a Prius in 2020 and lived in it briefly.... now in a very affordable home that I am buying here in Texas. I am getting right at 40 mpg most of the time. I am trying to maintain my minimalism in case I have the opportunity for some extended travelling in the future... Best of Luck! Stay safe.

Great set up! Those totes in the back, may invite a theif. Simple Harbor freight black moving blanket to cover and will help hide. And you can cover the seat to keep the boxes from marring the fabric. Consider a locking roof top box. I have no idea price or availability or difficulty of installing. Yes, may reduce gas mileage on the highway. But you stuff will probably be safer, and gives you more space inside. Maybe gain space inside for a small electric cooler/frig? And a Jackery power station?

Oooh! I am stoked to find you! I just bought a 2022 Prius. Her name is Solstice, since I got on the waitlist on June 21st and picked her up on Dec 21st! I don't plan on ever living in my Prius, and will rarely, if ever, camp in her. But you never know. I do LOVE watching everyone's Prius living/camping videos, because I love to know what is possible, and for all those months that I waited, it was good for me to stay in The Prius Zone! Yours is the very first 2022 that I've seen. So I am looking forward to following along to see what you do with it. I have been reading through the manual for over a month and still trying to figure out a lot of the bells, whistles, buttons, high-tech stuff, etc... I HIGHLY recommend a Prius-off-road lift kit. It really helps the drive ability of the Prius.

Google it. The best overall is 1.5 in. Literally lifts the Prius up so you have more room underneath for more uneven terrain (getting to camp sites, etc). No fun when you are scraping the car's underside. Parts + labor about $1k.

Cool car! Add the Ventshades/Rain Guards so you can leave the windows cracked for ventilation. It will help keep it cool and allow fresh air to flow through.

Very nice! An easy fix to seeing the corner of the white bedding from the front window would be a black mattress cover in the future. Either way you're pretty incognito in there.

Get some of that Turtle wax Flexwax Pro and do a base coat application, wait 24 hours to cure then apply again if desired. To maintain it, just need to pressure wash at the wash station, foam, rinse and blow dry for the most part unless it has deionized water. Keeps swirls or spider webs off that black car 💯 doing the “touchless” method and will maintain value when it comes to condition. If you were in the area of OC still I’d say stop by for a freebie!

A suggestion: tint your windows AND get Weather Tech custom shields. At night if you have a light on in your car (or are even on your phone), even with limo window tints, you can see in. That's why I sprung for Weather Tech shields.

Great ideas!! One thing, I've had a tank prius you'll notice vents under the sides of the rear seat. Don't block those vents thats the ventilation for the hybrid battery, also check occasionally that they aren't blocked with dirt or lint. Be safe brother!

get a windshield cover so no one can see you. when your relaxing or sleeping. Also get a roof rack, and maybe a cargo shell so you can keep anything in that water proof roof box. Congrats ! I got a mattress topper for my CRV 16' SE, for traveling its 4' , I didn't want an actual mattress because I am able to fold it. but soon my 22' Sienna Hybrid XSE Mini Van would arrive and it would be better for me when traveling again :) I'm excited. and glad you like your new car !

I have a hibrid too and for camping I love that I can just keep the ac on overnight because it will run off the battery until the battery needs charging and then the engine will turn on every 30 mins or so to charge the battery. So you can leave the AC on overnight and it won't even use 1/4 of a gallon because it acts as a very efficient generator. Try that out next summer

I'd put seat covers and floor liners on all areas to protect. If you put a black cover on mattress it will blend in with the interior, you wouldn't have to move stuff around all the time.

Two questions. What about running water? How/where do you do everything that has to do with that? Didn't you cover the air vent opening for the hybrid battery with all your stuff that is under the right backseat? That could be damaging for the battery so be careful.
