Hey Jake I love your channel!!! I have a Honda Accord and I lived in it for seven weeks two different times to save money. I loved the experience because I love freedom. I have very dark tinted windows and it was easy to sleep at apt. complexes with a lot of privacy. Because of you I'm going to take out my front pass seat and make there same bed. My plan is to be living in my car full time this July 1st. I'm getting a paint job and a few more car repairs before this new life. I'm able to get a lot done because I'm living with my parents and not paying any rent:) Thank you for helping me along on my freedom journey.

You can use the rec centers to get cleaned up and exercise for free. Only downside is that they are not open 24/7. Most stay open until 9:00 or 10:00 pm. There is a homeless camp on the east side where you can park your car at night. It's run by the city and there is law enforcement on the property providing security all the time so it's real chill and safe there. I believe it's called camp hope. They give out Free meals there every day too.

I lived in my Honda Fit for a few months. Might try perforated vinyl on the windows & reflectix to cover them when sleeping (white side for summer/black side for winter.) For hot temps, window shades/screens (slip over the door when open, close & roll down window.) For cold temps, layers of linens on the body & reflectix in the windows so your body heat does the work & keep one of those ‘emergency’ material (comes in blanket/sleeping bag/bivy) for extremes. If you can afford a ‘solar generator’ you’ve got power for tiny heater & tiny fan. Well wishes & stay safe!

I haven’t checked out your latest videos yet, but if you’re still living out of your car and need something to help with the warm nights, look into the IcyBreeze cooler. Might be something you can fit in your backseat and it has a hose/vent on the top that can blow cool air for up to 6 hours and can be recharged with a 12v plug. Idk the exact dimensions, but maybe it could fit on the floor between the driver seat and the back seat, or just sit on the backseat itself. I’ve had plenty of nights when it doesn’t get below the 80s and it’s miserable trying to sleep, so I feel you there.

Hi there! If you ever exchange cars, get a toyota matrix XR. The rear right side and middlde seats are connected and will lay flat, (as well the one behind the driver). It's a wagon though, so no separate trunk. It has a lot space for sleeping, but I'm only 5' 1". It's a great little wagon, it has served me well for 16 years now, my model is a 2005. I know there's lots of bigger cars out here, but if you like smaller cars, check it out. As for water, try Path water, it's an aluminum bottle, that is recyclable. You can get at groceries stores. You can buy some generic car seats to cover the seats that are tearing apart from over use, it is a cheap fix. Any color combination grey, black you decide. It would add more value to your auto. Or do what some have done go to a junk yard for wreckage lot lot that houses old cars wrecked after an accident and you can buy the seat as a single item, it is much cheaper than having a dealership install one, and install you can do....or for a small fee they can install it for you...so like new seats again.

Your car battery can't run an electric heater and not everyone will have access to an outlet. Your other options are propane and diesel and neither are cheap. I've spent a year in my car and in all 4 seasons and the winter storms were the only time i had to get a motel. The summer you just guage where the sunrise is coming from and park your car in shaded area. You can usually sleep till 9-10am no problem with the windows cracked and get a nice sleep.

I'm Disabled, a Veteran, and have been homeless for two years. I'm not a drug addict, just lost my housing two years ago when the apartment complex I was living at in Mesa Arizona was sold to a buyer in Toronto, who promptly notified the tenants living with Section 8 or VASH assistance they had the option to move out or pay full market value rent without assistance. I found while looking for a place to move to, that most low income housing in my area was eliminated in this same fashion by greedy investors and was unavailable to find another place to live. I bought an old van on payments and was forced to start living in it. I did so for a year and was offered a tiny fiberglass trailer on payments. I found that the person I bought it from had mislead me on a clear title, and have had difficulty getting it registered and legal to tow. I have been stranded at a Recreation Area, above Kingman Arizona for seven months now trying to get repairs done to my van. It is no longer safe to drive, and definitely not suitable to tow my trailer. It has been a living hell, upto 128 degrees at times this summer, now dealing with freezing cold at night and heavy winds. Every time I try to get some repairs made, something comes up. I bought a used generator which failed in a couple weeks, had to buy another one, then my emotional support dog Archie was badly bitten and required veterinary care, my air conditioning compressor failed in my Van, I cut my knuckle to the bone and ligaments on some glass discarding some trash which resulted in an Emergency Room Visit. I have been trying to get help, and have not had much success. I was accepted for PATH Rapid Rehousing through the Catholic Charities, but have searched all over Mohave County but found I cannot afford an apartment on my disability income. I have been looking for a room for rent, but no luck. So now I'm in a panic as I was notified by the Catholic Charities Caseworker handling my information, had their computer stolen and now my personal information has been compromised. I am on a waiting list for Section 8, basically started over. I did not choose to be in this homeless situation, and have been doing my best to deal with everything I have experienced the past 2 years. I had to literally give everything I owned away when I lost my apartment EVERYTHING!, I did try and keep my many tools, but those to were lost to a "friend" who was going but keep them until I get settled, but would never respond to my calls or texts. I am absolutely sick of my life. I don't live anymore, I merely exist, and it's not much of an existence at that. I have not showered in nearly 8 months, and haven't bathed in over two years since losing my apartment. My teeth are broken, many missing, and I broke another one recently, not looking forward to the toothache that's coming. I am nearly blind in one eye and can only see clearly with glasses, but I lost one of the lenses. I have reached out to every VA organization or service center I know of for help, but am ineligible. I worked for the Air Force starting my senior year of high school, as a civilian employee and for the next decade. I also simultaneously served 6 years in the Air National Guard, and was honorably discharged, but still don't meet the requirements as I was on active duty for well over a year with Avionics Technical School, and was activated during Desert Storm, but could not deploy with my unit, as I was a 3 level technician straight out of school. I have no family for support, no friends, only a few people I have met while being homeless. I have had a fellow vet brings some water bottles and food items several months back, and just today was given a propane tank, heavy sleeping bag, and nice winter coat by Catholic charities, these were definitely a blessing and will definitely help, but I don't see how I can ever get out of my situation as my limited income doesn't suffice to handle the many needs I currently have trying to get out of my homeless situation along with handling my major dental problems, lack now of a safe vehicle, and trailer registration. Any day the area I am staying may be closed, the BLM Rangers have told me they plan to close access to this Recreation Area soon. I will be in an Emergency Situation when they do, and have no idea yet what I will do .

Great channel...subbed! QUESTION: I'm getting ready to make the transition from apt life to my car, and I've been binge watching #carlife & #vanlife channels to get pointers and practical ideas. I'm in Minnesota and am going to move to warmer climate in my car.(due to health reasons, the cold just isn't working out any longer). Eventually, I'm expecting to use my car as a trade in to get a newer model with less miles if I can...okay, now the question...lol. "do you store your seats somewhere?" I don't think I could use my car as a trade in if I take out any seats? Thanks man. Be safe, and congrats on your sobriety!

Good luck on your adventures my friend 🙏🏼 Yeah when I did my bed build I left the seats at my friends place. If he wouldn’t have let me leave the seat there I probably would have thrown it away. Which would have been dumb to do. It’s best you find a place to store them.

Dude all you have to do is spray the front head lights with this specific spray that makes it look brand new. And if u fix the dent the whole car will look new. Oh and you should tint the windows to acheive total privacy

Love how FT car camping is considered homeless, but every car I’ve had has been nicer than the crackshacks I could afford to rent in Florida. 🙄 We’re in a class A FT and seeing the country now. I will never rent again.

Water very essential and should not be exposed to light!!!! The petro chemicals in the plastic leach into the water! Maybe the trunk?

chizick14 I’ve thought about that, always skeptical about leaving it out in the sun 🤔
