I know people who have minimum wage earnings but live like millionaires.. Others who have a million dollars but live broke. If you can get your mind right that is 99% if not 100% of the battle.

Hey Jake, the main reason why I see your videos is that you seem like a genuine real person going through something. I understand the nomadic lifestyle where you’re not tied down by anyone or anything in the midst of a pandemic. I understand you’re trying to get a new clean slate out of life by just living on a smaller scale, working and earning your keep, and trying to stay humble. I commend you for being sober by the way. It’s great that you’re connecting with other youTubers, but I saw their video as well and it seemed like they were trying to tell you what to do. Granted they have more experience with all of this and they were trying to give out some “unsolicited advice,” however I thought they didn’t really understand you’re okay with where you are in your life. Or maybe you’re not, Idk. They seemed very curious and eager to share their visions of your profitability. I’m sure they mean well, but sometimes it came off as presumptuous. If I saw your videos being more like every other youTubers out there I might scroll past it. The appeal of your videos is that we’re seeing someone show us who they are, and what they’re going through in their life. If the viewers ever get the sense that you’re pandering, or doing too much with your videos to “appeal” to the masses, that’s when we look away and say “that was too clickbaity!” Everyone may not share my sentiment, but I enjoy that your videos don’t look so overly produced with pleas to viewers to subscribe in the first minute. I find that actually annoying. If your videos are great and it connects with us, the subscriptions will speak for themselves. What’s the use of all the flash when there’s no substance. I always say it’s not about the story telling, it’s the story. What’s your story?

I lived in my car from March 2019-April 2020. I eventually joined safe park LA and had a secure lot to sleep in at night ( I had 2 jobs which ran late some nights so that was a big help.). Get your windows tinted ($150 all windows SFV. Lots of places), put a sun shade in the front window, and if you have extra money buy a $3 pass to sleep in metro lot. Universal is a great choice as police pass through nightly. If you don't have money then sleep in any orange line lot, tons of them in SFV. Don't sleep in random neighborhoods it's not a good choice. Shop at 99 cent store and save a lot of cash. I used LA fitness for daily showers too. Sleeping bag is also a great investment. This is not a sustainable lifestyle that's healthy, I got out of it and so can you. Best of luck to you!

@@JakeMcCollum Since they're in collections, you can offer whoever owns them right now pennies on the dollar, which is more than they expect to get. They will be happy to get anything, and you can get it paid for way less than 100%.

I would definitely take the dave ramsey approach to debt. You should do exactly like graham said and negotiate it down. Just make sure to get it in writing and do not give them access to your checking account. Something like a prepaid card will in one lump sum. You will feel so much better once this is off your back.

just a suggestion; but I would tap a tax expert at pending taxes you could be up for re Fed but also State as in the Californian Franchise Tax Board to determine whether you'll be defined resident vs non-resident (hopefully at this point, you'll be classified non-resident) - the last thing anyone wants is the State coming after you as they are quicker & more authoritarian in collection efforts than the Fed Govt., Also to build credit, there is a lot that can bring score up which the guy said, mountains of info is online i.e. setting up an account with Credit Karma maybe as they have articles on how to do that; & if you end up negotiating debt that went to collections, make sure the entity you deal with updates your credit report in a more flattery light & follow your CBR closely as currently it's probably showing in not only a numeral version with those dreaded X's covering past 7yrs (if the debt didn't transfer to another agency) but also in text/written form i.e. transferred to collections (that's usually the first thing a credit analysis-er re loans etc., that their eyes will gravitate to).
