San Diego Uber and Lyft driver here. I've thought about the possibility of living out of my car, but I'd need a place to store my belonging (laundry, boxes, etc). It's almost impossible making it here on a single income. I've also got no one here to lean on for help if worse comes to worse.

Walmart has 4 inch thick folding yoga mats. I built my bed a little small for my car so I can pick it up and vacuum or whatever if I need to. It cost more than building the bed did but the "mattress" folds up into nothing.

It’s all about the Milliard 4-inch tri-fold mattress, you can get certain sizes for under $100. I got one for my Prius, quite comfortable. Not sure about the dimensions of your vehicle, though

I use their mattress for my car too! Next level, sooo comfy! (Also, bonus, made here in the USA. ) I took mine out of the cover, cut it to fit around the grooves of the side of my car, and sewed it back up. Worth every penny.

Dude I grew up in San Diego..right off Camino Ruiz in Mera Mesa I used to go to the Whaley house as a little girl always getting creeped out by the stories of ghost there .. Balboa park is a really beautiful spot to visit too

Oh yeah I've done SD car livin'... Head up to Sorrento Valley pharma lab district. Nice and quiet up there at night and no security when I was crashing it a few years ago... All the shots you show in this video are of pretty mainstream, loud, tourist areas. San Diego county is huge and has a lot more relaxing spots and car life living opportunities. Also, you would feel a lot better if you cleaned up your diet. It's not hard to get a dozen eggs soft-boiled with a butane cooktop and a pan and about 15 minutes. Then you can just keep them cold in your cooler. Cook up some quinoa with that in the same pan right afterwards and keep it cool as well and you've got performance nutrition ready immediately that costed you practically nothing. Car living is no joke, the mental game is the biggest part. As for doing the silly delivery jobs I doubt that yields much money. If a man can sack up and fly a sign in front of a home Depot he's likely to make over $200 a day in a place like San Diego. Give it a try, you'd be shocked who u might meet doing that and the $$$ you can make. Speaking of money, part of the reason you're getting such terrible sleep and look like hell is because you won't spend on the 8-in memory foam mattress that they sell at Walmart and just cut it down. $130

The key to your "Overnight Success"........you sleep in a regular old car! Not a crummy looking hoopty. Or obvious camper van. Or RV. Folks generally are not going to object to your vehicle when it fits in to the surroundings. Mini van or regular passenger van work well too for city overnight. TIP: do not put refectix/window coverings at night!!!! During the day, okay, just looks like you are preventing the sun heat, just like most others. Just have good legal side window tint (not front passenger and windshield). Then cover yourself/things with inexpensive Harbor freight black/grey packing blankets. Very unlikely that you will receive "the knock".
