@JakeSloan2 жыл бұрын
you want to keep the ISO as low as possible so for photos use a slow shutter speed for video you want no ND filters and keep the shutter at 2x your frame rate then raise the ISO to where you want it

Thanx Jake, as a photographer for decades I finally bought a drone. The price/quality and most important to me, the quietness of the DJI mini 3 pro was the drone for me. Moving from The States to Vietnam in January and REALLY wanted to get those establishing shots flying over the little villages, or rice fields etc. which u can't get stuck on the ground. Bought some Freewell All Day filters so I should be go. Thoughts on using polorizing filters? With a camera pretty easy to adjust as to not get funky looking darkness and such. But on a drone the Sun's angle will usually be changing a lot, suggestions/advice? Just gotta learn a whole new way to shoot......and edit.......and add music. Do u have any videos or suggestions on where to find music? Thanx again for a most informative video!
@JakeSloan2 жыл бұрын
I use artlist for all my music and find it’s one of the better solutions out there for copyright free music. (There is an affiliate link in the description) for polarized nD filters on a drone I typically only use those for photo work. For video work I much prefer standard ND filters

Hey there I love the videos that your putting out Jake! I am going to be upgrading to the Mavic 3 Classic very soon in the new year and I want to get into content creating with it and sharing some of my landscape drone videography and Photography! I was wondering if you can advise me on any really good informative books on drone techniques and how to improve my drone film making skills! Something I can keep referring back to to insure I get the very best amount of shots to make a decent video and get the very best footage possible from the drone! If you could advise me on any books I would be extremely grateful! Thanks for the amazing content I’m really enjoying watching your drone videos some extremely beautiful locations

One thing I really enjoy about your videos is your explanation of the shots. Now SADLY, as a Part 107 pilot, when I watch movies that use drone footage, it's disheartening when they are so poorly edited that you can tell the video was shot from a drone. What do I mean? With much of your videos, the viewer easily gets lost in the scenery and you don't pay much attention to the camera that captured it. With some movies, I see better drone footage on your channel than I do in the movie itself.

agreed!!! and thanks for the kind words!!

6:17 Does the Air 2S have the ability to track a subject 4-5 ft above the ground? Mine seems to not lock on in trace mode unless I'm higher than that, and it would be ideal to get it lower, to at least 6 ft or so.
@JakeSloan2 жыл бұрын
It does but it won’t stay that low to the ground.

Recent subscriber here ... appreciating your 'eye' and skill dronery. ;-) I've been wanting a drone since the early days of DJI popularity, but living in NYC means drone flying is Very limited. (only 5 public parks are possibilities, and they are not close to Manhattan). I'm an art photographer doing a lot of urban study projects and I'd like to incorporate drone use, so when I see drone footage shot in Manhattan (and not by a big TV network or Hollywood franchise) I curious to know how it it was done legally. Is there commission that requires a substantial fee? Is there paperwork that legitimizes the flyer (aside from FAA license) and purpose? Is the air space only open to commercial use?
@JakeSloan3 жыл бұрын
So you can fly in some areas but you will need to get LAANC approvals and also apply for an unlock license from DJI. Since I am not super familiar with NY airspace I'd recommend reaching out to some local drone pilots to see what's possible and where you can and cannot fly.
