Whenever I look for SC tutorials, everything I get is f…ing balancing tutorials. I don’t care about balancing, because I already figured it. I want to know how to set it up in a mode that is similar to what IBIS would do, but the sudden jumps the some IBIS cameras do (example Fuji) when you start moving with IBIS on. What does the lock mode( holding the trigger) technically do? Locks all three axes? When I try holding the trigger button it still pans around a bit as I move, is that normal ?
@JakeSloan5 жыл бұрын
It should make it stay pointed at the same spot once your push the lock button no matter how you move with the gimbal. If it doesn't then you may need to calibrate the gimbal
@grayscale315 жыл бұрын
Jake Sloan thanks Jake, yeah I may need to calibrate it I think as it does drifts
@andinbriwel10925 жыл бұрын
It keeps the camera locked in the same attitude - that is, level (roll), tilt and pan should all stay at the same angles with relation to the physical horizon. If you truck, dolly or change altitude, what is in your frame will change accordingly, but the camera should stay in the same attitude. Also, moving the joystick will still move the camera - so if it’s drifting, maybe your joystick isn’t calibrated. Also, make sure you always run the balance check and auto tune as part of your standard setup routine.

So I came here out of curiosity, because my gimbal has a wicked jitter to it and I figured maybe I just need to try other settings. Your gimbal does the exact same thing and I'm stunned that no one commented on this. Its visible in both the clip at 1:23 as well as 3:45. Watch the road/mountain side--its jittery as hell. Thanks for replying so fast. Checked that video out. In your video I saw that the stabilization is way better in Dji ronin sc vs the weebil S. The video sample from the weebill S is very shaky in comparison to ronin sc as shown at 1:49 in that video. What would you say about that?
@JakeSloan5 жыл бұрын
I would say that is true unless you have a camera with IBIS. You can see the RONIN SC video review I did the footage from the Ronin SC is very smooth as well. It always comes down to the camera lens and gimbal setup being correct. However the Weebill S has VERY good stabilization espies because of its stronger motors

I have a question. In timelapse (point to point) Can the speed be different for each point ? Also can you set a different time for the stay time. Or is the time setting universal so that once you change it, that time setting applies to all the points ? And finally when it finishes the move does it stay at the last point or will it make an instant ugly jump back to start/home position ? Thanks
@JakeSloan4 жыл бұрын
Unless they added it recently there is no way to change the speed between points. The whole time lapse is based on the total length you want the result to be and the interval you choose. That would be great to add that functionality though. When it finishes the time lapse it just stops at the end point. No resetting to the start/home point etc. you could do what you are trying to do with the motion tracking feature because you can program stay time and variable time between points. You’d have to film in video and slow the shutter speed down to get the desired motion blur effect and then in post you’d speed the video up to whatever you want the time lapse to be. If that makes sense.
@mgr55504 жыл бұрын
@@JakeSloan > Thanks for replying. As per your last idea, what if im shooting untethered. That is using a G7 which has its own inbuilt timelapse feature. Then can i just have the cam on the gimbal and still do the motion control program while i independently set the inbuilt timelapse on the G7 off. In fact i actually wanted ot also know if motion control and motion timelapse functions would work even if the camera was not connected to the gimbal by cable.
@JakeSloan4 жыл бұрын
That’s an excellent question and I don’t know as far as the time lapse and motion time lapse settings I’m not sure it would but I haven’t tried it. The motion tracking will work regardless of camera attached or not but then you’d have to keep your shutter speed fast enough to get rid of any motion blur from movement you didn’t want. When I get back to my office I’ll try the ronin out and see if it will work without the camera plugged in.

Urgent help wanted from fellow users. Just bought a new RONIN SC. The main unit (not the battery grip) has a large silver lock lever, which is used to lock the battery grip onto the main unit, that lock when used as intended does not go and CLICK at the end or anything. It just only becomes slightly tighter, it does its job but there's no tactile click. Have i got a faulty lock or this is how it behaves normally ? I even tried operating the lock without the battery grip and observed the small silver locking mechanism can hardly be seen moving even when the lock lever is moved to lock and unlock positions. Can someone confirm ? Thanks.

I believe I answered this but the silver lever has no "lock" or tactile feedback because it just adds friction the tighter it gets. so once you have it tight then you are good to go but there is no click or lock that will be felt.

how did you manage to put mic on ronin sc
@JakeSloan5 жыл бұрын
I use this iRig adaptor on my a6400: geni.us/7eXZ depending on the camera you use they may make a similar adapter for your camera as well.

@@JakeSloan does this iRig works for a7III as well ..?
@JakeSloan5 жыл бұрын
No unfortunately only the a6400. This is the closest thing you can get for the a7iii www.smallrig.com/smallrig-cold-shoe-extension-plate-for-sony-a7iii-a7r-iii-buc2662.html

Hello Jake, I've enjoyed your videos. I used to be based at Elmendorf, so I enjoy the Alaska backdrops..;-) I purchased a Ronin - SC a few months ago for the purpose of filming our flight students when they perform their initial solo flights. I was hoping that the autotrack feature would allow me to lock onto the plane and then let the gimbal track the landing and takeoff...but the airplane is too small in the frame for the autotrack to lock onto. I'm using my Sony Alpha 6000 camera with the telephoto lens that came with the camera when I bought the package from B & H. I've tried to use the joystick to track the airplanes, but the videos have wound up looking pretty herky-jerky, and I've had a hard time keeping the aircraft in the frame since I'm shooting with the telephoto lens all the way out at maximum magnification. Any suggestions on settings that might allow me to keep the aircraft in the frame as they land and takeoff without all that herky-jerky motion? Thanks in advance. Col. Sherman F. Morgan, USAF, (Ret), Esq.

Very nice! unfortunately the only way to do it well would be manually with the gimbal and playing with your settings until you find a good combination

I get all my music from Artlist: geni.us/kqV9l (affiliate link) the piano song that plays while my name is written out is Anthem of a Quirky Hipster and the other song that plays is called Halation. Cheers
