Those plug and play machines are quite a nifty thing. I got several and when they have microswitches like this one they're pretty much a premium way to play games. The MsPacman one I have (light blue base) is the same. :)

I have this system. I use it to get that arcade feeling. I found the joystick twisting to be very odd, though, but everything is fine. Although, I’ve hade mine for an incredibly long time, so it’s been worn down over time. It’s still awesome though! I love it’s game selection, especially Super PAC-Man, aka my favorite version.

I need help, I bought a used copy of this plug and play and the touch of the buttons is very hard and they sometimes stagnate and the pole position mapping does not work for me

I have this but there's a short in the wire so the screen glitches every now and then and the twistable controls for pole position don't work. I think I'll get a new one soon enough for old times sake.

And by the way, you actually CAN bypass the opening credits of this unit! Surprising, huh? Just press A twice really quickly. I do it all the time when I start the unit, and it's a pretty cool hidden feature!

Mine's still held up after so many years with no noticeable degradation. I could call it brand new and anyone would still believe me. I still frequently use it for Pole Position alone; I think the other games are all right, but the joystick for up/ down and left/right controls isn't ideal for me, especially playing Pac Man games. It's doable, though.

I also remember that every time I played a different game it would switch the color on my screen permanently until I played another game, but one time I dropped it while taking it to my tv and then it switched between colors like what is happening with yours

There are so many different versions of these,. I have two, my original one I have with Dig Dug & Racer X. I also have the Super Pac-Man one which has Pac Man, Pac Man Plus, Pac & Pal. The Pac Man games are completely different. The first one us very slow the one in my Super models is more like the arcade game but not exactly so the routes on most pages don't work

It is terrific if that Jakks Pacific Plug N Play had a Raspberry Pi Zero installed, then this is useful playing most MAME arcade games with two fire buttons and a joystick as my suggestion. Use the AC adapter for the main power source to be safe than sorry.

I know it's been awhile since I've commented on anything pac man related on youtube for quite a while now and what with the recent news about pac man being in minecarft I thought now would be the perfect time to commit on some pac man videos and well now I feel rather sheepish for leaving the fandom behind but it's like I said before manny time's well not manny time's but like enough times to make me feel literary like crap about me leaving behind the pac man fandom but yeah hopefully I can still do pac man content while being more obsessed with scooby doo sesame street looney tunes tiny tunes and aniamanecias anyways though like I said hopefully I will get back to doing more pac man content regardless of how I feel about the fandom now anyways nice review on this I've got the same one and I haven't played much since we moved from our old east tory house to hear it even lost its battery compartment once and one on the sides of the unit has some paint wear on eather blinky or inky like I said though it's been awhile so the next time I look at it I'll let you know what side of the unit has the paint chip on it when I go over my entire pac man collection on honner of it being in minecarft hopefully they will put sonic in there too cause if they put pac man in their then clearly it would only make logical sense to have sonic in their too anyways great video nonetheless keep makeing more pac man videos like this in the near future please thanks so much for being a fan of pac man like me lol anyways though in all seriousness happy 40th birthday to pac man the greatest game of all time next to sonic but sonic is better anyways thanks for makeing a video on this and hopefully you can keep makeing more pac man content like this to keep people like me interested in your channel

Richard Herzog It really is worth it if you can find em cheap. I buy all my console and plug and plays broken for cheap and fix em up so I got it for a few bucks. I had noticed that they weren't terrible cheap for a working one though. I thinks it's because they are so good!

Just ordered one of these exact same ones off of eBay. I like the fact the joystick closely resembles the original arcade and has the micro switches. Some of these other ones are really hard to control.

@@Sarcast Midway handed over Pac-Man Plus licensing to Namco though. They didn't with Jr. Pac-Man. That's why Ms Pac-Man, and Pac-Man Plus can be used, but we haven't seen Jr Pac-Man or Baby Pac-Man. Namco doesn't own them.

@@JackTheGamer3 Never said they would. Just pointed out that licensing prevents them from using Baby Pac-Man or Jr. Pac-Man. And if they really wanted to, there is a 7800 atari version that plays amazingly well. Emulated pinball and everything. If the console has 2 buttons, one button could be used for each flipper. then Joystick for gameplay. Just licensing prevents it from happening.

I once’s used one of the pac man plug in play cords and put it in a tv then I also used one of the miss pac man cords I plugged them both in then i turned both of them on and ya know what in did it showed all the pixel Namco characters on both plug in play it was crazy

@@SVT512 Me too. I used to have it, but the joystick was broken, so I had to throw it away. That's a shame because I've bought that plug-n-play at Toys R Us back in 2015. I've had it for 2 or 3 years and it was a good plug-n-play. I've really enjoyed playing Mappy and Pac-Man on it.

The cable is going bad. Since it's hard-wired into the console rather than being a reusable port, you'll either need to take it to a repair shop (unless you know electronics well enough to open it up and patch it yourself), or get a new one.

Or, maybe it's different, the joystick on the 2012 yellow one was originally stiff, unresponsive, noisy, and mushy. But in 2014 or later or earlier, the joystick was updated. It was now very responsive, smooth, clicky, and not very noisy anymore. CMJack's unit is definitely the old unresponsive version.

I love these, but that bad thing about these Pac-Man themed Plug N' Play consoles is that they repeat the games a lot instead of each one coming with totally different games unique to each console.

That's my point, and while I love the look of them, and I will pick them up if I see one in the wild at a decent price, however I'm not going on places like eBay, Craigslist, Letgo, etc.. and actively looking for them because of this.

Yep that's usually when I pick them up if they are in good condition, and are less then $10 at Goodwill or Salvation Army as my area of the SC/GA border is so spread out it's not worth the gas, and time hunting yard/garage sales which are usually baby items, and random kitchen junk from the 70's and 80's I don't need lol!
