Most people don´t understand what he´s about, but he explains it well here. Jakob only cares about becoming the best he can be, and knows that he should be able to win pretty much any race if he capitalizes on his full potential. And, as seen here, if he doesn´t feel he´s able to capitalize on his full potential, even winning a gold medal isn´t worth much. Talking about other athletes doesn´t help him become the best he can be. Answering too many stupid media questions doesn´t help him become the best he can be. Anything that doesn´t help him become the best he can be is irrelevant. If you want to become the greatest ever, you need that kind of focus, and it has nothing to do with arrogance.
@jensmith3719

arrogance does not matter, just irritates with excuses and detracting from others accomplishments, on any given day any elite athlete can be beaten, and for him i think it hurt more because twice in the 1500 he was not as mentally tough as Jake and Josh when it mattered at a world champs, i think that hurts more, no-one doubts how fast he is, but racing is where it matters most and thats when mental toughness is the key, if he paid them both due respect instead of whinging he in turn would not have so many detractors, its a shame as perhaps it is how he has been raised, he does not come across as an athlete that is happy in his sport,

@@jensmith3719 He shook his hand, said Josh as well as Jake were the best athletes at those days and ran perfect race. So what more do you want from him? An average sportmanship from him should be enough. I do not expect from him to speak about other athletes most of the time in interview and if someone does, it is false hope. I agree with your part with being raised in certain way but thats what actually keeps him on the top. During the championship he did not disrespect no one, no athlete or anything.

He is an aerobic runner; because, his earobic capicity is so high that his comparatively slow top speed brings most runners to a point where they can't capitalize from their fasterer top speed anymore. He wears them out in the last 500 meters or so, in particular, in the last 300 meters. Once their aerobic capicity is spent they have too much lactic acid in their legs to deliver a fast enough spurt to beat him. The reason why he lost againt Whitman and Kurr was, because, he was'nt able to outperform their maximum aerobic output. They did not produce enough lactic acid as to slow down their top end speed over the last 100 meters. There was also another 1500m/500m runner who showed this particular weakness, but not to the same degree. I am primarily thinking of El Guerrouj, who did'nt have great top end speed either, but he was possibly quicker than Ingebrigsens at the top end and his aerobic capicity was still greater than Ingebrigsens. His world record indicates that.
