@@rundreamachieve I know. I meant 800 m speed. I expected him to be strong 1500 m and up. Surprised me here.

I had him at 52 for the first 400, but only 1:19 to 600. I think he can knock a second or two from his third 200. The kid is a stud!

Agree. I'm pretty sure if Jakob run more 800m, he would go low 44. But he's doing the right thing focusing on 1500m and longer. That said, doing good 800m will of course help his top speed at longer distances.

Given that all major events are probably not happening this year and that many athletes were unable to follow completely normal training routines for a few months, any performances we see right now are just like early, early season performances. Also, athletes are training through competition dates and not anywhere close to their peak form. They are building up extra strength for next year when they will sharpen their speed. This also isn't their event so this was just a good training run for them. But they had a good race with each other. I wonder how the older brothers feel about the youngest just being better than them now.

Jacob needs to hit atleast 1:45 mark if not better for him to have larger chances in 1500m at Olympics or World Champs.

That's pretty mediocre, given their 3:30 1500m PBs. They should both be capable of sub 1:44. Granted this isn't a real competitive race, but they really need to think about this performance and train specifically for this event to get that PB down substantially if they're ever going to be truly competitive at 1500m post lockdown.

Prentis Hancock You have some valid points, but keep in mind that Hicham El Guerrouj's 800m PB is 1:47.18, and Bernard Lagat's 800m PB is 1:46.00. Fermin Cacho, who had an incredible finish in the Barcelona 92 Olympics, has a PB of 1:45.37. I don't think there's much need to worry about the Ingebrigtsens.

Prentis Hancock they're more strength based 5000/1500 athletes than speed based 1500/800, so this time is pretty on the money for them I'd say
