Considering sources
Improvising exercises based on treatises
Jakub Kydlíček - Prague Conservatoire, Masaryk University (Czech Republic)
The paper aims to point out possible approaches to historical sources, mainly the transition from its original use into modern didactical use. The idea is based on the fact that today's musicians often have to deal with a variety of repertoire from different historical periods. Therefore, there is a need to acquire certain competences not only by using preserved sources, but also by inventing some additional material (studies, exercises, etc.). In this presentation I would like to present some examples such as exercises based on partimenti by Durante and Paisiello and extended possibilities of learning renaissance and early baroque recorder by using sources such as Brunelli's diminution treatise.
