Stumbled acros this channel the other day. I believe these videos are put together better than 95% of the other hunting channels. Also, the hunts that J. Alain Smith goes on are absolutely great. Love your hunts Mr. Smith.

J Alain Smith As a police motor officer I became quite an aficionado of deer and elk skin gloves. I notice in the two other videos of yours that I watched that you wear gloves while hunting. This provided a clearer view than the others though. Ps - that 😜 at around 7:00 killed me. Traveling to Africa, hunting with friends and a total hottie of a girlfriend. Well done!

Rupert McNaught Davis have you tried any of the old Cape guns? Any British or German combination guns, one with a rifle barrel, the other with a shotgun barrel? These guns were brilliantly designed and built to shoot everything exactly and accurately.
@rupertmcnaughtdavis3649
@rupertmcnaughtdavis3649 5 жыл бұрын
@@pamtnman1515 .A combination gun word be absolutely perfect,but I have to say the German guns are far superior to the rather cumbersome Cape guns,my great great grandfather was a gunsmith in Graham'stown,one Hayton,and he sold them.My ideal would be a German double 16 bore over a 7x57R.

As near as I can tell, African Big Game hunts start at $40,000. Plus $10,000 for each non-hunting member. Must be nice. :(
@wildrangeringreen
@wildrangeringreen 3 жыл бұрын
depends on where/when you go (fees, licensure, demand, ect), which guide you contract with, your expectations, and what type of animals/methods you are going for. Some hunts can be had for $17,000 for a week (+ 1 non-hunter in tow, add in trophy fees to the state and air-fare), some top $17,000 a day (not including trophy fees and observers lol) . a good site to get started is bookyourhunt.com; it'll at least let you do some research. I'm putting away some money so I can take my son when he's 16-18; if he doesn't want to go, I'll take my brother lol. Big thing is to try and get hunts where the state and guide will allow for open hunting, primarily go after your contracted species, but if an opportunity for another arises, side track a bit and go after it (make sure you can pay the fees). Some guide services adjust your rates depending on what methods you are wanting to use (archery equipment is much more demanding than ML guns, and ML guns are more demanding than modern rifles, ect), and the geographical dispersion of the species you want to hunt (sometimes guides/you aren't licensed to cross the border into another province, so you'll have to be driven 80Km or so the opposite direction to find a healthy population of a species Example: just browsing, I found an exceptional 9 day, 2 hunter and 1 observer muzzleloader safari with fees for 2 cape buffalo, 2Jackals, 2 bushbuck, 2 duiker, 2 Gemsbuck, 2 Kudu, 2 Reedbuck, 2 Steenbok, and 2 warthog; on 60,000 acres in South Africa for $42,000 (not including airfare, import permits, hunting license and tax (total would most likely be around $48,000)). It could be done for less days, and therefore cheaper, but I want to ensure that the hunters can take good representatives of the species, rather than whatever just walks out in front of them lol. That means it takes more time, more often than not (especially with ML guns), and I don't like to be rushed (even with 9 days, we'd be hunting dawn to dusk most days, most likely). I've read that importing hunting guns into SA isn't terribly difficult (for government lol), and I think they allow you to bring in 11 lbs of ammunition (which, even with large bore guns, is quite a bit). If you don't shoot the animal, you don't generally pay any trophy fees (always good to tip your PH though, for trying to get you an opportunity)

hey Mr Smith the Diper looks better alive. If you shoot it you have to eat all of it or see that it is eaten, And you have to pay for the meat taxes fees and levies to maintain the habitat of the diper. If I ruled the world. And watch out for the communists who might take the game park for themselves. You are to leave game park forever and ever, for the animals, so my kids can pay exorbitant fees taxes levies and come and shoot an old bull too, sometime. And if your diper is not juicy and pink in the middle. Don't shoot another til you can cook.
