Jalen Johnson's time at Duke didn't go according to plan but he remains a unique talent with upside that many others in the class simply don't have.

They def stacked at the wing position for a min don’t forget bout huerter and bogdan, I think hawks should jus bring back Lou and maybe package a couple of there wing players for a good solid back up PF or center

@@0hsoaj513 package great young wing players for a backup pf/c? I’d rather take my chances through the draft. Hunter is the real deal and cam hasn’t even scratched the surface of his potential. Unless you getting a high level starter like kawhi/ Beal/ etc. stick with the young core imo.

Other than Cade Cunningham, this kid has the versatility to be a 3-and-D guy with playmaker skills and also has the potential to be a star in the team. He can defend 1-4 positions and has the potential to be a point forward like Simmons, LeBron, etc. But he has to add on his offense like mid-range and post-up for a middy or pass it to cutters. The best team for him right now are the Cavaliers, Kings, and Wolves. Of all the teams I mentioned they needed a forward who can guard, cut to the basket, and can be 2nd playmaker since they're lacking it.

If he drafted by a team that has patients to do everything for his development then i'm pretty he'll be a future star. undoubtedly has all the tools to be an elite player in both ends of the floor.. I would like to see him drafted by team such as GSW, SPURS, NO, SAC, OKLAHOMA or PHOENIX since these teams are excellent on developing young players.

Gordon has the skill set and physical tools - I feel like he's underachieved a little. Another comment, but what do you think an ideal setting for Jalen Johnson would be basketball wise/role wise. How would you construct a team to fit his play style, and do you think he will ever he good enough to run a half court offense?
@HoopIntellect
@HoopIntellect 3 жыл бұрын
H/C offense is my biggest issue with him. If he can't become a serviceable shooter it's going to be tougher for him to see the floor and it's why I think he could end up playing a lot of small-5. You wouldn't construct a team around him but any situation that would allow him to handle the ball in transition, run some DHO's, use him as a screener, would at least be interesting early on. Don't think he's quick enough atm to run PnR but he can at least initiate some secondary offense. It would also be unfair to say these few college games are completely who he is as a player. Everyone doesn't have a flattened development curve like Simmons, either. The fact that he took 18 threes has him ahead of the curve from a guy like Simmons just in that regard, anyways. Very few capable of that performance vs Pitt, 24-16-7-2-4 with 0 turnovers and several jumpers. The risk is there but I'd be willing to bet on the upside in the late lottery-top 20, depending on the team.
@MagicsJohnson
@MagicsJohnson 3 жыл бұрын
@@HoopIntellect how would you feel if he was on the Blazers? I can see this guy slipping to close to the end of the 1st-that’s the only way I can see POR moving into the draft to get him. We saw Nassir slip all the way to 24 because of a lot of the same issues like shooting. And since he’s been there his 3 ball has improved tremendously and he’s gotten better with his handle and defense. Next year, it looks like he will be the first wing off the bench for them. Portland’s development also makes sure all of their young guys learn to shoot because that’s the only way they see the floor as young guys. I think he would really unlock his potential earlier if he was drafted somewhere like Portland.

Celtics could be a good fit for him. Celtics have plenty of scorers but could really use a good stretch 4 who can pass, defend and make plays with his athleticism. Adding Johnson at the 4 would allow Tatum to play the 3 which is his natural position and plus that way the Celtics put out a bigger lineup (they've been undersized often times this season). I don't think he would run an offense. I simply see him as a stretch 4 with good passing ability and the ability to lead (or finish on) the break..

That’s a good question. I truly very high on Barnes because of his size, skill set, upside and aggressiveness. Scottie shows that he’s willing to lead by his defensive example and he’s always talking on defense. Both players have Point Forward potential which means mismatches abound. But if I had to choose it would be Scotties Barnes.

I get the same personality vibes as KAT coming out. I think he is going to always be a threat because of his skills but every level from here including all star level, all nba is going to be a mental game , he doesn't seem to have the "butler" gene. Which is to ultimately say I think he will succeed on a team looking fwd with no old school vets telling him he should play a certain way. But I don't see him leading a team down the stretch.... This was a rough yr for me as a dukie.(lowest effort,lowest team cohesion, and by far lowest lack of interest from players on coaching maybe in Duke history) JJs lack of leadership and or ability to take over with his questionable attitude makes me think he is the lowest of the leaders of this draft class....

Why do ppl act like KAT is a bad teammate lmao

@@Michael-jd2ki didn't say he was.... I was talking about his internal drive for greatness... Most people who follow the nba would have taken KAT to start their team around a few years ago, I don't think that is very valid anymore. Nothing to do with him as a teammate everything to do with basketball motor, intentions, and goals in his career outlined by himself. Soooo idk what you are going for.... I don't have fav nba players or teams its just what I see

@@chriskeesee7508 no Jimmy Butler the 30th pick from a loaded draft class who went on to be considered one of the best in this decade..... I don't sit on tik tok and follow the memes of the week. I actually look at basketball from the inside out not non senseical statements like 1st rd sweep. ... If you know basketball you would know the toll it took to bounce back so fast and that's why the Lakers are out too.... Soooo maybe stick to house of hoops highlights. And let's keep the actual basketball talk to facts.....and others :: inserts Russ meme::

@@Ghetto_Meadow He has not done anything that crazy this decade. Isn’t the best playmaker, shot creator, or winner. He’s a good intangibles guy, but that’s about it.

Nice at dunking the ball. Can he do anything else. Because at his age, Spud Webb can still do a 2 handed dunk standing under the basket. Welcome to the NBA where everyone can dunk. Nothing special and not a lottery pick.
