He looked better for sure. It will be interesting to see how he progresses as the defenses get faster and the windows get smaller. For me it's always been an above the shoulders thing for Milroe. He has all of the physical attributes.. runs a 4.4, has a cannon arm. When he was making mistakes last year he looked uncomfortable, and he wasn't seeing coverages or open recievers. Continuing to get better pre-snap and knowing where he needs to be going and what his second and third options are is the name of the game for Milroe.

Jalen is an interesting study. Very accurate throwing the ball down the field but struggles in the short game. Not great at moving the chains, I would really like to see him check down more often instead of constantly looking for the home run. Yea, he did this last year against “inferior” opponents, where his first read was open, but he wanted a big play instead. Then it turns into a scramble drill. He also struggles throwing to backs out of the backfield unless they’ve turned up field. That said, I loved seeing them line up, pin and pull, and let him use his speed and power running the ball. Brailsford and Roberts are so quick that they can get the hole open in time, which is nice to see.

Great breakdown Aaron! Milroe is still Milroe. The best Athlete in the country but probably not even the best passer on the roster. Had the most time in the country to pass last season and held the ball for far to long and got sacked a ton because of it. He gets out of trouble and makes dynamic plays because he is such an athlete. Got Bama to the playoff last year so as a fan ill take it everyday but to think he's all of a sudden going to turn into Bryce young, read defenses super fast and throw dimes to outlets its not going to happen. Bama had Tua, Bryce and Mac jones so fans tend to be spoiled by great passers that can progression read and throw with accuracy. Milroe is a different QB and that's ok. Ill take the missed outlet pass for the 40yrds scramble and if he does progress to a better passer college football is hosed against Bama more than they already are!

Milroe has been working on seeing the green grass, take off. Coach Deboer said it in his interview; he wants Milroe to run, because it opens up so much more of the passing game; it wasn’t meant for him to throw that out route to Ryan Williams for a 12 yard gain, when Milroe can run for a quick 40+ yarder. Offense is about certain plays setting up later plays. Trust me I know; I played at Alabama

As a diehard Alabama fan watching Milroe in game one told me he is still lacking fadter S2 Cognitive Skills going through his checkdown reads. He has to get the ball out faster or take a sack against upcoming better defenses with great pass rushers. Both Bryce Young and Michael Penix Jr. have great S2 Cognitive Skills and can process the field quickly and get the ball out extremely quick before the pocket collapses. As Milroe develops a rhythm with his WRs, TEs, and RBs, his on field process time getting the ball out should decrease.

@@adamlamparello8701Bryce's deep ball was highly inconsistent, but he was good at short/intermediate throws. The thing about that is that philosophy can only work so much on good defenses, henceforth why they struggled scoring against Auburn in 2022 and Georgia in that championship game. Milroe having a consistent deep ball keeps the defense on their toes still, because the moment a good defense relaxes thinking it's a run, he can easily hit a one play touchdown. That's why Bama scored more points against Auburn with Milroe (27 pts in 4 quarters) as the QB compared to Bryce Young (22 points in 4 OTS). Idiotic analysis on the first play. They had the second team center, left guard and left tackle in the game. They were replacing the best left guard and center in the SEC. The left tackle was injured in pre game so 57 is a sub and mostly plays right tackle. This was a scripted play to start the game. Bama thought they could win on the outside and that’s where he wanted to throw the ball. The left tackle was beat of the snap. Jalen makes mistakes, this wasn’t one of them.
