This is brilliant, well done. Raspberries are an excellent choice as they're so expensive to buy. We planted some but only about 20😂

Yeah they are super expensive! And fortunately for us they like horse muck

Yay.. Looks fab! I'm over in France trying to do similar but unlike you guys, I'm pretty clueless 🙃. (I'm Ruth, the lady that contacted you guys recently on fb about where to get collars) good luck and watching you guys keeps me motivated 💜

Love watching the horses work and the sound of the harness. Is there are local market where you can sell some of the produce in due course?

Very nice. Impressive how the horses stand while you are running the chainsaw. I also like it that you work them without blinders. In my experience this way they learn not to be fazed by anything and become more dependable. Do you plan on removing the logs again when you have to till your garden beds again, which might be already at the end of the season?

We're planning to use cardboard and wood hip as a mulch so that it doesn't have to be tilled again. The plants in all of these beds are perennial.

Awesome video, I love the scale of fruit you're going to grow. I put in 10 blackcurrants and ten gooseberries 3 years ago and had 12kg of fruit last year without netting them so I should say you're going to have loads with the number you've planted. Worst bit is picking it all! Looks like you've got a good amount of soil on the ground as well. How high up are you?
@hitchinfarm

Yeah we're pretty pleased with the amount of topsoil. We used to sell veg at market but fruit just makes more sense, slightly lower labor and much higher revenues. I don't actually know yet 😅 I will look into it

@@hitchinfarm yeah, anything that you don't have to plant annually is a good thing! I did look into growing veg for market but we're north facing here so limited season. I also learnt I could make more talking about it (via garden clubs) than I could selling the veg around here (although with prices rising that might not be true now). If you ever want an extra income stream garden club talks would work well for you if you haven't already gone down that route. Happy to give tips and advice if you do.
