A "live" performance (two independent live takes merged together), making the most of our current societal circumstances. The Analog Four continues to prove it can take on all the melodic roles in a band, including sequencing, four separate voices, effects, arpeggiation, and mixing/arrangement. Plus, it just sounds really, really good.
And Sam? Well, Sam's just great. Here he's using his home TD-12 kit as a MIDI controller for EZdrummer. Plus he mixed his whole part. Nice work, Sam!
Elektron Analog Four MkII (Jay) - Four melodic parts (pad, glitchy lead, melody, bass), effects, sequencing
Roland TD-12 (Sam) + Toontrack EZdrummer - Drums
Written and recorded by Jay Hosking and Sam Sherwood.

oh my goodness- that micro-adjustment is driving me crazy! Just turn the knob, Jay. 😂 ...otherwise, awesome sonic composition and kudos to both musicians.

I play in this band, we've been eager to try something different. Thought we needed backing tracks, turns out what we need is an Analog Four. Thank you sir.

Thats awesome! Hey Jay a have a question, maybe you can help me out. I currently own a wavestate (which has 4 idependetn voices like de A4) and im thinking of getting a A4. I wanted to know if you can sequence the 4 wavestate layers with the A4 sequencers, and still use the 4 sequences on the internal A4 voices indepently? So there will be 8 different sequences/voices in total...

Radiohead Creep progression in there somewhere, I think. Very good sounds. I love the incorporation with a live drummer. Do you ever do this live in non-pandemic times? I've struggled with getting my band to stay in sync with the electronic stuff.

Yeah, we do this live. There's two other tracks on this channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKnLfXSKrrWYd6s and kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3LakKywd6tsnbM I send MIDI clock out of the Analog Four, and then we use the Arturia DrumBrute Impact to generate a click track for Sam to play along to. It really helps that he's an ace drummer, haha. Best of luck, and thanks for the kind words!

Awesome jam bro! Very fresh! One question though: Given the choice, matriarch or analog four? Asking for ... research purposes😅
@JayHosking
@JayHosking 4 жыл бұрын
Hard one. If space were a restriction, or if I were setting something up for live or touring, I’d probably go A4MkII. If for home and sound exploration and the joy of just tinkering, definitely the Matriarch. I find the Matriarch just a little more pleasing to the ears, but both are really great.

You Make amazing music and Videos! Because of your videos i bought a A4MKII and i want to do some ambient/psybient/psychill Stuff. May you want to help me a bit getting started & Make awesome music? How do you prepare your tracks?
@JayHosking
@JayHosking 4 жыл бұрын
One of these days I'll try my hand at "how to get started" videos, but I'm relatively busy and usually want to make music when I have the chance. I mainly prepare tracks by coming up with one line that I like, then adding track-by-track until I have all, and then coming up with arrangement and transitions. Best of luck with it and can't wait to hear the results!

@@JayHosking a "how to get started" video would be very nice :) Currently I'm struggling with the controls and sequencer from the A4 (i have "gaps" in my melody) and the drum beats to the song (only the synth is a bit lonely ;) ). Thank you for the wishes! Here my newest song (sadly no hardware): kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGbXp5Z5i5esrpY p.s. you inspired me to play the arpeggio :) Thank you for the time you use for your video and songs!
